Any nice lofts in Chicago with decent price rent
How do you all deal with the guilt of leaving a comany/ team? I have been working at Microsoft for 1 year now, and seriously considering moving. I find the code base to be very legacy and I mostly work on obscure bugs that I spend so much time on, mostly due to navigating this large code base and not having much docs to refer to. Hence I find the job slightly unsatisfying, and that I could learn more elsewhere. However, I love the wlb, the team and company culture. The guilt stops my applying.

How many of these do y’all get a week? 😏
You can’t have a dual citizenship with a clearance. You’d have to give up your first country.
If you then gave up your first, your best bet would be to find a contracting company rather than going straight government first. Government positions are competitive and often given to longer term contractors first.
If the contractor will start your clearance paperwork it’ll take years to get especially with foreign ties. After a few years you can leave the contractor with the clearance if you decide to try to apply for government positions. But again it will take years, especially with the backlog and limited working hours right now. Cyber with the government isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and honestly doesn’t pay well compared to industry at all. Really consider if that’s the route you want to go.
Unlikely
Since you weren’t a natural born citizen you’d likely have to renounce. But not always the case. It really depends on if you get your TS through a Civilian Employer or if you’re in the military.
Military you’d have a higher chance to get one, else I’m not sure
I think the nation state / cyber warfare seems more purpose driven and mission oriented than what I’m exposed to in the private sector. Is that the case or does the grass just seem greener from where I’m standing?
I’ll say greener from the other side. I wish I could tell you the projects I was on during my first few months of government work. It did get more interesting as I got further in, but the pay and red tape drove me crazy. I’ll never go back.
Trust me, do not give up your citizenship.
It's a long process - Dual citizenship, Tier 5. Didn't have to renounce it, foreign passport has expired - didn't travel on foreign passport before it expired, haven't been to birth country in over 10 years.
Downside, I have been rejected on potential contracts because of dual citizenship.
Will end up renouncing to make it less of an headache for my career.
