I have a F1 visa in the US. PhD student at a California University. Can I take equity from another company at some capacity such as an advisor? It is not full time employment, just more exposure. Thx

On F1 you cannot make active income (my wife is in the same situation as you in California). Passive is okay (401k, stocks, investment, etc). Equity in a company that utilizes your skills (hands on or strategy) is a big no no as you're benefiting from your labor.

Hi all. I am licensed in life, accident and health and am looking for new opportunities. I’ve been working in employee benefits in a small brokerage firm on a book of business of over 400 clients, I’m the only account manager. We’ve had 100% employer retention since I’ve been here. I am a high performer, but not sure I’m valued much at all . I want to reach the top and become partner in my career ; this is why I went to work for a small firm. My boss favors others when I do the most work!!

Need career advice. Trying to break into a finance role, preferably an Analsyt role but I have no transferable experience. I worked as a mortgage loan officer (which is sales) for 2 years after college, but since mortgage is such a niche industry, no hard skills transfer and have no relevant undergrad internships unfortunately. I know I can essentially get any sales job I want in finance IE: financial advisor etc. but don’t want to be stuck in sales forever. Any advice?

I’m pretty new to the tech space, and wondering what jobs might be out there in the fintech space as I gain more software knowledge.
