New SM at a firm and asked to lead a difficult project with abrasive client that 6+ SMs before me have cycled through and all been rolled off. I don’t have much of a choice being new to the firm… or do I? My thought was to sell my own role elsewhere (have lots of relationships) but the freight train has left the station & being on boarded to the challenging environment instead. Tips aside from - just do it & prove them all wrong? Can’t phone it in because I’m new. Any advice is welcomed
I'm one week in my first project and I already know it's not my cup of tea - how long do I have to stay on before it's acceptable / reasonable to roll off?
Need advice for resigning while on bench. I already have a start date with the new employer. Should I do a traditional two week notice or give <=1 week notice instead? My goal is to not burn bridges, but I also don’t want to get let go on the spot since I have nothing to “wrap up” besides HR tasks. I’ve read on here that sometimes they will let you go day of and pay you out for two weeks but I don’t see why any firm would do that for somebody not currently performing billable work...
Has anyone ever put in their 2-week notice while on the bench and got let go prior because... no work?
Been on the bench for a week. Fml. Advice?
That moment when you walk out of a second round at a job you want, are told you're moving onto the next round, and also receive an email that you're now staffed after weeks on the bench 🙄
Any ideas to get off the bench guys? I'm a staff starting my second year. Tried reaching out to various folks in the firm but it's as if everyone's out to ignore me 😓😓
What’s the best way to roll off a team without blow back? These people are stressing me out
On the bench but putting in my notice in two weeks. Any reason to look for projects, PD work, etc? Or should I just chill?
Holding all else constant, do you prefer two continuous weeks of bench time or 10 hours less work per week for 8 weeks
What do you do when you're on the bench? Apparently I'm being picked up next week, but my team hasn't sent me any prep materials. I'm helping for 2-3 hrs per day, but the rest of the time......nada.
First time on the bench as a relatively new hire, any advice for making the most of this downtime?
What’s the longest amount of time you’ve spent on the bench? And what did you do during the time? First time on the bench after 3 years here
How’s the commercial bench at PwC?
What hobbies do y’all do? I’m in a rut with not much going for me so figure I should fill some bench time up.
Does NIE have a validity period? Planning to apply for one for travel in Nov. Also, do we have to apply for NIE at the consulate where last visa was stamped at or any other?
Person in my advisory office got laid off. Is my EY office an anomaly, or is this happening anywhere else ? Person was on bench for last month.
I just ran into my old high school bully 20 later. He served me my meal at the Wendy's drive through
As a first year in litigation, I'm curious about exit opportunities of an 8+ year litigation associate. I've read a couple similar comments now that it's best for a litigation associate to leave before or around year 7. Is there a reason for this? Are exit opportunities that bad for litigation?
Has anyone stamped their US H1B visa from Cananda (non- canadians) recentlt? Need to know about the process, any complications etc.
Anyone in privacy can shed light on how to actually break into privacy? Seems every position requires some level of experience. Should I just pursue certification and keep my hopes up?
Hey my ADHD peeps, serious question. I was diagnosed in my early 40s which explains A LOT of my life's failures (i.e. changing college majors, multiple job changes/getting fired, bad with time management). None of that pales in comparison than getting divorced. Is it worth it to reach out to my ex to let him know what I learned? I don't want to get back with him. We are complete opposites and I think that telling him can possibly provide solace for both of us. Thoughts?
Completely burned out. Hardly billing. Motivation is gone. How long until I get fired? 🥲 Will there be a warning before? Stressed.
Hi! For the folks who have recently took the SHRM-CP exam this year, how would you describe the test and any tips you can provide would be helpful!
Hey guys, Could you please let me know the hierarchy followed at PWC AC Bangalore. Many thanks.
Has anyone worked with Hacker USA before as a Lead Instructor or Teaching Assistant? They reached out today, but know very little about their brand & reputation. TIA!
When the partner checks in on the junior associate
I have a strange fetish (indicated on Grindr), a guy messaged me and we chatted a lot about mine and his fetish, we exchanged #, and he called me with some sexual talk. I have caller ID enabled with my carrier so I got to know his name and out of curiosity, I searched his name on Facebook and it looks like he's in great love with his partner. Should I make assumption that they are having an open relationship and he's not cheating?
As a former Corporate Counsel, now mostly solo practitioner in Federal Court specialty practice is a mixture of Bankruptcy, Immigration, Business Transactions and Employment law. My question is could I affiliate "of counsel" on part of my practice like say only Employment Law?
