Modern Explorer I.
Clean. Simple. Who cares what day it is? Looks fantastic switching to straps.
Would buy new.
Definitely my favourite - I’d have said GMT if it was with the BLNR bezel which I love, but if you’re going for an understated look the Explorer is just where it’s at: a true everyday wear, good for all occasions. Much more of a dress watch than the sub/seadweller/GMT (thanks to the lack of rotating bezel), the water resistance is more than enough for what water you’re likely to deal with in a normal lifetime, and not so obviously a Rolex so less likely to get mugged too!

16710 GMTII.
Love the complication and this color is more my style than a split bezel.

Too many subs floating around. GMTII has my vote. Such an underrated and under-appreciated piece (which is not necessarily a bad thing if you want to avoid that absurd premium).

Finally a modern ND Sub.
I like the two line better in a vacuum, but there is something appealing about buying a brand new one and being the only owner.
^also the glidelock on the new bracelet make for really easy micro adjustments on the fly

No Cyclops Sea Dweller. Just a little bit different to set it apart from the sub. Love that it keeps more symmetry with no magnification.

@EY I’m both of those 😂

Explorer 1 - perfect for an all rounder watch. Office. Holiday. Beach. City break. Anything
Sub - 14060M has my vote because although 114060 has a superior bracelet and clasp and I actually quite like the ceramic bezel, I do find the maxi dial makes it look too big and chunky for my wrist. So should try it on.
GMT II - GMT is a great complication. But for me personally, I am not in the stage where I trvel that often (probably once every quarter) so I might save it for later and honestly probably prefer an aquanaut GMT. so waaaayy down the line.
Sea dweller - not a fan sorry due to my pathetically small wrist size
Conclusion - depends on which route you’re taking. If you want a great watch tht fits multiple occasions, definitely go for the Explorer. If you want something special, go for sub or gmt. Try all of it in your wrist if you can. Take my opinion with a pinch of salt since i have a 14060M and in the wait list for explorer 1. So might be a bit biased
All great options - you might also consider a 5 digit polar explorer II - similar vibe to what you’re thinking but the white face really pops.

Thanks, it definitely was considered. Just outside the top 5.

For context: I currently wear an heirloom Bluesy on most days. Mixing in an Apple Watch and a Mont Blanc dress watch.

14060/M
So clean, so classic. Love the two line dial.
Are you dead set on Rolex?

I’m not pounding the table saying I only will wear Rolex and everything is trash, but I have done quite a bit of research and they really embody the things I find important in a watch. I also can’t afford a 5711 or a VC 😂
Personally I am a ceramic GMT w/ black bezel fan
Got it. Personally I’d be tough pressed to buy a five-digit Rolex reference if it’s my only sports watch and I planned on wearing it on the bracelet. The old bracelets just feel cheap. Some people like them though.
Hope you don’t mind waiting
