I have a final round interview with American Express tomorrow. Does anyone have any tips? I’m a first-generation college grad, and this entire job searching process has been very humbling and challenging, to say the least. I have major imposter syndrome as well because no one in my family has made it this far. I’d love to kill this interview and give it my best.. any tips ?

Be honest, be candid, be humble, be genuine. Nobody expects a fresh grad to be a master of their craft. Interviewers want to know that you'll develop into a master with their guidance. Show that you're eager and capable to learn, and that you'll be pleasant to work with.

Congratulations on the forthcoming interview! You've made it this far, so they know you know you can do the job. At this point, it's more about standing out, letting your personality shine, and showing them why working for Amex is important to you. You can do this!

Just be yourself and be confident. Make a little research about the company, it's culture, production and the management. What position are you applying for? Make sure to make a research about the duties and responsibilities of the role as well. I hope this helps and i am pretty sure you will ace the interview. Good luck and congratulations.

UPDATE: I got the job! Thank you everyone for your tips 🥳🥳

You worked really hard to get here! Even if it’s a no, it doesn’t negate your hard work and achievement. Give yourself some credit for getting you this far 🙌

First of all, congratulations! Your family will be proud, for sure. You just have to be confident, honest and humble. Prepare well for the interview and I'm sure you'll make it. Best of luck!

You don't need to negotiate your salary when to is given. Say thank you, express your excitement about the team/ role then ask for the offer in writing and sufficient time to review all of the details including base salary, professional development, Healthcare etc.

If you haven't already the last interview is a great time to ask about expectations over the first 60/90 days/ 6 months and the metrics used to evaluate individual and team success.

Good luck! I'm first gen too; we are all really proud of you.

Hi Fishes,
I had 4-5 rounds of interview in Amazon in last 1.5 months, including bar raiser. I got a mail stating I am selected for position within 4 hours of my bar raiser round.
HR asked for a few documents like last 3 months payslips, ECTC etc. It's been 4 working days and that HR is not replying on my mail. It is fine or something is off track ? Any suggestions ?
Does they usually turn back after sending selection mail and asking for documents

Thanks in advance !

I am coming up on a promotion. In preparation, I've done some market-level research for the future position and found the average salary is approximately $30k more than my current salary. I've been with the company for 10 years in various positions, but 2.5 in my current. My previous supervisor would never entertain any negotiations above the offer letter; stating "the offer is final". I've spoken with other colleagues and its not true.

Any advice for negotiations, and how much is too much?

I am currently a year from finishing my PhD and was looking at VC's as a career path because I like to do meta-analysis of different climate change techs. I networked with VCs and one of them was receptive but didn't have the budget currently for a full time hire. They said they'd be interested in working with me to do a research paper over the coming semester, and was wondering if I could leverage this into a full time offer?

Is a white paper with a VC going to be attractive on my CV?

This is an embarrasing question to ask, but at what number do you feel like your net worth is a sign that you're "successful"? I'm honestly trying to evaluate for a sense of where I place within the market/if I've been making intelligent decisions.
