For cleared folks: asking for a friend, they are currently going through a TS/SCI w/Poly clearance for a different firm and it’s been a while, but they are interested in a few positions that require a secret somewhere else. If they accept the position with a Secret, will anything happen?

Need some advice! I'm a recent PhD grad (30 yo) in STEM, and just got some offers from different companies. Particularly, two of them are interesting to me. 1) from a Energy Market Company in Pennsylvania as an Operations Research Scientist, 95k + 15% bonus + very good benefits and generous PTO. It's a very chill job (9-5) with good people but limited opportunity to growth. 2) from a consulting company in NYC as a data science consultant, 130k + 10k signing bonus. Which one you choose? why?

So for all my first generation consultants, I don’t think anything can replace that feeling you get after reciving that first offer at a big prestigious firm. Knowing you are only a couples months out of college, that all your parents sacrifices and all your hard work has finally paid off. (I’m not talking about guidehouse where I have a non-consultant role)

My lease for a decent 1BR in LIC was $2350/month. Without the COVID discount, it is increasing to $2640/month. Thoroughly enjoyed living here, should I suck it up and stay? Hi everyone. I interviewed for a sales role at Amazon. I was told the role was an L6 and I can stay based in Chicago. Well, the recruiter emailed me today saying the hiring team felt I was better suited for an L5 role (estimated total comp is $140K-$150K) and I would have to move to Seattle. They'll send me an offer if that works. Any advice or opinions on how to negotiate? For context, I gave a desired salary range of $280K-$310K since this was an L6 role, and my current TC at P&G is $200K.

And once again, grand prix at the Effies goes to a non-profit - not saying the work wasn’t highly effective or meaningful (it was, major kudos) but still a bit disheartening hearing them present the winning case as an idea the agency came up with and then went cold calling to find a client/org for. When there’s business-driving creativity being done on big/hard clients. Lots of other wins were for non-profits though so that’s the industry I guess 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️

Anyone have any advice on how to unlearn some of the unhealthy work habits one has developed from a previous job? I moved in-house from a big agency a couple months ago (best decision I’ve made), but I still feel like my work style is still the same as it was when I was working at the agency (ie: being a pushover, afraid of saying no, working late, etc). I’m working on it in therapy, but curious to hear everyone’s experience here and how they were able to change these habits.
