I have a great app idea, but have zero clue how to get started with finding developers to help me build it. Any advice?

Ideas are easy. There’s a ton of tools out there to help prototype or mock it up for free or cheap, before you even try to find a dev. Do research, and validate the idea with friends and/or family first too before you waste your time. If you do most of the leg work and it is a good idea, and you have functionality and features laid out, you find devs on upwork, etc, approach a colleague, or look into your LinkedIn network to see if someone can intro you to developers.

There’s nothing developers & engineers hate more than non-tech people approaching them to build an app (often for little/no money or gain). Definitely seconding the necessity of research. Do as much as you can on your own.

Thanks all! A lot of this advice, I have already completed, so happy to see I have been on the right track although I did not know it. Have to also admit, even the negativity has given me more drive to get this done.

Find an incubator. Pitch the idea.

For having made the jump from advertising to the startup world... You can’t just have the idea. Ideas are overrated. Making them happen is a bit difficult. But sustaining it and standing out from the noise is the real hard part. 1) You need to have a special gift that will contribute to idea: is it your business chops, or are you a visionary creative, or are you very connected in that world? Usually startup cofounder teams have an engineer, a designer, and/or a biz person. 2) However much money and time you think it’s going to take, multiply by 2-4. 3) Be prepared to sacrifice your life for the first 5 years, as a founder/cofounder, earning 50K and just working ALL the time. We think we work hard in advertising. It’s nothing compared to the startup world. 4) network network network 5) investors and partners will look for YOUR legitimacy in the field you want to disrupt. They will ask you “What is your unfair advantage?” So if you have a restaurant app idea, you have to work in the restaurant business. Because it’s all about your relationships and connections. 6) best is to have a good relationship with your engineer because they are very expensive and very in demand. So if you don’t know them and want to pay a low price to create an app with no legitimacy or relationship, that will be hard. If you’re friends and are legit, will work out better. I recommend you listen to the podcast “How to start a startup” by Ycombinator and Stanford. Great tips! Good luck!

Just got an offer as a Data Analytics Solution Consultant (remote) in Deloitte GPS USDC. The base pay is 10K higher, and it is probably good for my resume. However, I was looking to expand my data analytics skills, and they gave an impression that my work will mostly just be fraud detection and boring tasks. Should I reject it if my goal is to expand my skillsets? Also, is the work life balance bad for USDC too? I am seeing all the horror stoires

I'm really struggling with focus & could use some coping tips, if anyone has some. I live alone & am hundreds of miles from my family. I've been in isolation for months (My firm is still doing 100% WFH). Everything feels so overwhelming and coping with being lonely and being sad is getting harder and harder. I'm coming up on a crazy Q4. I'm low on hours for the yr so I need to go all-in on work for the next 2 months, but I'm not sure how to make it happen. Any recommendations?

LEAPS options traders: if you have a January 2022 option that’s up over 1,000% but have held the option for only 3 months, do you exit and take gains now or wait at least until you would get capital gains treatment? (For context: it’s an energy stock, so I bought it waaaaay out of the money right after the huge March sell-off. It’s recovering nicely and I expect it to reach the strike price well before 2022) Any resources to assist with decisions such as these is greatly appreciated!!
