I have a manager who doesn’t seem to like me very much. Talks to me in a super condescending tone like I wasn’t an experienced hire & know what I’m doing. He will flat out ignore me even on calls when I say hi or good morning.
I’m not sure if it’s because he’s “old school” but once had other team mates in his office (all male) for lunch and didn’t invite me (the only female on this team). I thought I had a super progressive team but every day is telling me that’s not the case.

Hi

I would encourage to talk openly, honestly about how you feel. It might be difficult, but if nothing will change after ….. we’ll, you would need to think about next steps…..

I’ve always had great bosses/team leads here (looks like you’re also in HR)- how long have you been here? Suggest switching teams if you don’t feel like it’s a good fit!

My manager was abusive to me all year while I was going through a very difficult time with my family (my father was super sick and almost died). I’m in Corp Functions, where you can’t just switch your PL (who is also your manager) with the click of a mouse. I finally got my PL switched last week. I’m so much happier!

I actually have the same problem with a male boss. He was super condescending and gaslight me every opportunity he had I now have a boss female seems like she’s drinking the coffee I’m not too sure still filling her out. I’m always hopeful that people will learn how to behave in workspaces but they can’t .

Had this experience with a female boss.

I am a black woman and when she hired me I was so excited to also work for a black woman for the first time. Representation matters and I thought she could be someone I could look up to.

She ended up being the worst boss I've ever had and I really did feel she had something against me.

I worked very hard and I gave results but that wasn't good enough.

Sometimes you just gotta leave there isn't any point in trying to win them over. Trust me.

I love my job and the people I work with, but there’s one thing that really bothers me: the lack of diversity. Sometimes when I walk into the office and see everyone else around me as the only POC, it feels kind of weird. I don’t think anyone here has ever said anything racist or sexist to me personally, but I don’t feel comfortable talking about these issues with anyone because they might take it personally and then things could get awkward between us.

For those who have transitioned to industry, do you view your manager the same way you would your military officer?

I’m fairly young (30) for a Sr Mgr at a major defense contractor, and I have a new employee who’s a navy reservist. Recently, I asked him to do something he forgot to do, and he responded: “my mistake, sir. I have no excuse, sir. I will take care of that now. I apologize and it won’t happen again”.

I know he’s being respectful with the “sir”, but the formality is just so new.

What is the advice on what feedback to leave for a peer who really sucks at everything y'all have worked together on? It's about the time where everyone on my team requests feedback from each other and I'm nervous for it coming up. My manager knows that everything I've worked w her on I end up doing 90% of the work when it's meant to be split so it is a known issue. We're both at level 3 so are genuinely peers. She seems like a nice person but i have 0 positive work feedback tbh

Need some advice on how to word an email to someone I’m not very close to (mgr<) asking if they have internal work that I can help with. Thanks.

I’m curious is anyone else having difficulties play some candidates like this? At this point I’m starting to think it’s racial or her sex based of the lack of interest in this candidate. Any thoughts?

It also makes me feel as if there is no urgency in my position or the company in general. Wondering if this is even the right company for me.
