I have a masters in organization behavior, I love being in organizations that are growing and changing that’s why I chose to get my masters in organization behavior. I feel like in the HR world having a SHRMor a PHR is more impressive, marketable and would get me more compensation in the long run. I paid 25K for a Masters for what?however my employer has decided to provide some tuition reimbursement so I’m looking into getting a certification. What’s your opinion I’m

I see where you're coming from - I think the issue is that your resume and masters need to be better connected for people to make that jump. The certifications you mention are the ones EVERYONE knows off the bat, that's why they hold weight.

Sure, the SHRM or PHR is more marketable, but you have a degree in a niche that you actually enjoy. Especially if you're going to get tuition reimbursement, I'd consider your situation a huge win. Even if you don't get reimbursement, there's really no use in dwelling over the past/things you can't change. Decide whether you want a SHRM or PHR (or neither) and move forward with your decision.

What if you are promoted and now got to know that you are selected in one of the job opportunities you were trying earlier. I am looking into buying a place in Queens and while a coop is affordable for me, many of them need renovations. I looked up online about renovation costs in nyc and saw that basic renovations started from $100 per sqft. That means if I buy a coop of 600 sqft which may cost around $350k, I’ll need to at least spend $60k to renovate it?! That sounds like a lot to me. Could someone who did basic renovations recently share their experiences?

Hi All - I received a verbal offer from a big 4 organization about 11 days ago. I keep being told that they are waiting on final approval before they can give me the written offer. I am stating to get anxious, as I want to give my notice to my current employer and have another offer that expires at the end of this week, which I did share with the recruiter. Is this a normal timeline for these firms? Starting to get nervous that we may not get final approval. Thank you!
