I have a new student that I am having trouble transitioning from the bus, to the classroom. Then later from the classroom to lunch.
Any tips for doing an Escape Room in the classroom? I really want to do one as a fun way to review.
What are some features of your classroom that you and your students adore? I added a cool-down corner last year and it was such a helpful space for my students who were angry, anxious, or overwhelmed.
After 18 years, I lost my art room to a classroom this year in order to spread out kids due to Covit19. They said we can’t hand out papers.. kinda thinking art is remote for all. I will do lessons on google classroom with live lesson to classrooms and home. I was told special area teachers may be “repurposed”. We will be used like a TA. One class will be spread out two rooms.Aday teacher in one room, I help in other room. B day teachers switch 😳😷☹️.. I know I’m lucky to have a job but.
Is anyone else returning to fully in person learning? We have been hybrid/synchronous since September, which has been very hard and not very effective. They want us to have all Kindergarten students come back in March. I want to stop live teaching over google meet all day while also teaching my students in person at the same time, but there is not enough space in my classroom for safe distancing, not enough space for movement, and sitting at a desk all day is not appropriate for K kids!
One thing on my classroom wishlist is _________.
I was recently informed by a teacher's aid that another teacher in my school thinks that I 'Do Nothing' as an art teacher, and went so far as to spy on me outside my classroom to reinforce her opinion. Obviously she is wrong and completely ignorant of what happens in my art class every day. I am not the confrontational type, but I feel like I need to address this. Any advice?
I have used Dojo and Bloomz in the past. Want to use a classroom behavior management system that doesn’t require me to be logged into an app/site. My upcoming 4th graders are a tough group
Band teachers... how do your virtual band classes work? I’ve been doing music theory with students via google classroom and kids constantly ask to play instruments. It seems like a nightmare to have 30 kids with instruments online because of the delay in sound. Help plzzzz
My students eventually get bored and restless when it comes to a classroom routine esp towards the end of the year. How can I keep things interesting but also consistent?
Hi music teachers! How are you surviving? I’ve been teaching band and choir for a long time, but distance learning and Zoom has me stumped. I’m lucky to have a job, I realize. What are some things you’re doing in your virtual classrooms that your music students enjoy?
Does anybody incorporate SAT/ACT vocabulary and question stems in their classes? How does SAT prep look like in your classroom?
If you’re worried about the classroom climate help with this resource. Helps kids transition back with empathy and equity for remote learners!
I’m student teaching and I’m completely stressed out. I’ve been in an elementary classroom as a TA, but this is way different.
Starting January 4, I will be teaching both my in-person students and virtual students at the same time. How can I accomplish this if I need to be seen by both my at home students and students in my classroom if all I have is a laptop with 1 camera? I teach high school math.
Welcome to our pre-k inclusive classroom. Even with 8 students, and only face to face for 4 hours, we struggle. We struggle being heard through our masks. We struggle with social distancing. We struggle as we find ourselves constantly reminding students to keep their masks on. We struggle to keep them engaged and to teach. One thing we do not struggle with- building connections and showing out love for each child.
A parent just walked into the school and into my classroom to chew me out while I was working with students. How does this happen? It’s like parents run the place, and don’t even get me started on the security issues here.
Finally got my "new" desktop computer I had been needing for my classroom. Only has a "small cosmetic issue." Thanks IT

Hey guys. First, I'd like to point out that I think we are in such an evolving industry as the workforce is constantly changing, and that is exciting! With that, I am seeing all different types of jobs. I am currently a doctoral candidate in I/O Psychology and working in an HR role (approaching 2 years of relevant experience). The combination of the two can be tricky, and I am wanting some advice on where I can take my career. Any hiring happening in your company that could use a phd candidate?
For all the OG Nordstrom folks...
I’m 7 months into my first CE job after uni. The pay is awful and management is even worse, but it was the only job offer I received. How long should I stay here before I start looking for other jobs? Will it concern companies that I left a job after such a short period?
Will be at 195k EQMs on AA after this trip. Don’t have anything else planned for the rest of the year. Worth a mileage run for those extra 2 systemwide? Thoughts?

How inclusive is your district? Do you believe in full inclusion, self-contained, or somewhere in he middle?
Just curious: Does anyone know of a special education teacher who has gotten Teacher of the Year for their school or district?
I am concerned that my 2 ed techs are being pulled from teaching and supporting our special education kids to sub and/or cover duties. It totally goes against the kids' IEP services! I feel like parents could legally fight for compensatory education if they knew what was happening.
Does anyone have experience as a LDTC? I just wanted your thoughts and experience also whether or not it was a good move for you. Thanks!! 😁
I have told that I will be coteaching in physics this year which is a content area I know NOTHING about. Any advice on how I can support students and the content teacher while not knowing the subject matter?? Thanks!!
Which state has the most difficult Internet system for filing IEPs, as well the state with the most difficult IEPs to transcribe for transfer students?
In my Georgia system, we use GO-IEP. It used to be a nightmare, but I'm used to it now, except for needing additional accommodations tabs and easier access to forms for upload. Still have a beef with that.
As for the most difficult state's IEP to transcribe for a transfer student? CALIFORNIA!! (No offense to y'all). 😉
Does your district offer prefillable, vague IEP goals for students in the system you create your IEPs in? Do you feel like they properly address your students’ needs even after you make edits?

Self contained ASD 6-8 grade. I have the lowest and most aggressive out of the two classes. It’s as if they feed each other. Low focus rates. Do those in my situation have a lot of down time? Seems I can’t keep them on track. Wondering if I am trying too much on academics? I feel I should lighten up but if I give a lot of down time I don’t want others to think I am lazy. Trying to find that balance
Going to be on interview team for the new Paras in my room in a few weeks. Besides the questions from their resume what else are some helpful questions to ask for a possible ASD room para?
I am also being released, however my school has told me that I can come back once i accomplish the tasks I need to accomplish.
For people that are on the fence about the industry, I tell them to try another district. You know what you did and didn't like about your school so you can go in armed to see what another school is like. Don't be afraid to see the school, ask for a tour, talk to the teachers. Sky's the limit!
I teach all grade levels in my sped class. I also have many different levels of reading ability. Some are almost grade level, and some are at pre-k levels with lots of in-between levels. I want to focus on helping bring up the struggling readers, while challenging the more advanced readers too. My challenge is to work with all of them in 50 minutes a day. Are there any good strategies for juggling all these readers in a short period of time?
