Reward system for transitions prepare child for those transitions.

He gets off the bus and over powers the para and my self. He gets into the cafeteria with 2,700 plus students and hugs people till it hurts. He runs with hand out giggling.
I’m going to try going to the bus with food on Monday.

like

Maybe have a highly preferred item waiting at his desk with loads of praise. Transitions are so hard to work through but try to find that one thing that is highly motivating and slowly work towards it. Bring it to bus, wait closer to class with it etc.... it’s all transitional. Soon it will be second nature,

like

Any advice would be appreciated...

Try to give extra time with transitions, the bus is still a difficult place. Keep him safe, you may need a second person to assist.

Texas High School OP, did you say that you already have two people trying to get your student off the bus? I would go with the food along with verbal praise. He sounds like he needs some mega sensory breaks, too!!

like

Try giving a preferred task for when the student gets to the classroom. Show them a piece of the item (a LEGO) or a picture to entice.

How are they with time requirements or using a timer to pre-warn a transition will be coming

Use timers to give pre-warnings so they know that the transitions are coming so they have time to process.

Try to give extra time to transition. The bus to class will still be difficult, but lunch and going to the bus should be easier if you give extra time and keep reminding them what’s coming up it will be easier . Just tell them step by step. “We take our coat off and hang it up”, we put this away and go to the sink ,turn the water on “..... just repeat and show pictures go slow

After 18 years, I lost my art room to a classroom this year in order to spread out kids due to Covit19. They said we can’t hand out papers.. kinda thinking art is remote for all. I will do lessons on google classroom with live lesson to classrooms and home. I was told special area teachers may be “repurposed”. We will be used like a TA. One class will be spread out two rooms.Aday teacher in one room, I help in other room. B day teachers switch 😳😷☹️.. I know I’m lucky to have a job but.

Is anyone else returning to fully in person learning? We have been hybrid/synchronous since September, which has been very hard and not very effective. They want us to have all Kindergarten students come back in March. I want to stop live teaching over google meet all day while also teaching my students in person at the same time, but there is not enough space in my classroom for safe distancing, not enough space for movement, and sitting at a desk all day is not appropriate for K kids!

Welcome to our pre-k inclusive classroom. Even with 8 students, and only face to face for 4 hours, we struggle. We struggle being heard through our masks. We struggle with social distancing. We struggle as we find ourselves constantly reminding students to keep their masks on. We struggle to keep them engaged and to teach. One thing we do not struggle with- building connections and showing out love for each child.

Which state has the most difficult Internet system for filing IEPs, as well the state with the most difficult IEPs to transcribe for transfer students?

In my Georgia system, we use GO-IEP. It used to be a nightmare, but I'm used to it now, except for needing additional accommodations tabs and easier access to forms for upload. Still have a beef with that.

As for the most difficult state's IEP to transcribe for a transfer student? CALIFORNIA!! (No offense to y'all). 😉
