Hi,
Please help..!! need 11 hearts
Hi, I have recently got the offer from HCL Technologies, they are offering only 7LPA and I have a counter offer in Cognizant, they offering me 8.8 LPA. I spoke with the HCL HR on the same, HR said that they will revise the offer two days before my joining date. This was happened over the phone call, so I mailed them to send me a mail, detailing all the information we talked over the call, but still I didn't get any mail from them. Now they are urging me to upload the docs. What I do??
I would say any entry-level Business Analyst position. Eventually with experience you can work toward Product Owner or Product/Project Manager.
Thank you so much!
Are you trying to be a PO or a non-tech PM? Both can be tough to break into but PO would probably break you if you got it. I first became a non tech PM coming from previous Marketing & Strategy experience, which was a reasonable progression imo.
Beware the different interpretations of “Product Management” at different orgs. Some use PM and PO interchangeably ( to my chagrin). You really will need to make it clear if you’re pursuing non tech PM because there is massive demand for tech PO type roles and they will try to suck you in and waste your time.
Thanks for the clarification. I’m looking for more of a PO role. I actually recently got a certification for product ownership, but I was wondering want roles could help me get my feet wet in this area. Any suggestions?
I’m a non-technical PM working on an AI product. My advice would be to build something yourself. That’s the best way to learn. If you have a few projects that you’ve built yourself, then you’ll have good stories and learnings to share. With those in hand, you should be able to crack a startup role and work your way in to larger companies if that’s what you want. That’s what I did. I built a product for the same niche my company is working on and got the role very easily. If you join an early startup, there probably won’t be any good product processes so you’ll have to read about them and try to implement them in a way that fits with the current processes without replacing everything.
Do you mind sharing what has sparked your interest in pursuing a product role? I agree with PM 1 though. Just be cautious because some companies use all these terms interchangeably. You'll want to pay careful attention to the job description and ask very pointed questions in whatever interviews you land.
At my previous job, I took on the role of PM by happenstance and really enjoyed the prospects of creating a new product for consumers to use.
I feel like you should definitely at least take some online courses to get a sense of the technical side of things
I recently got a scrum alliance certification. Do you have any specific course suggestions?
Thank you so much for that advise. This is a great suggestion
