Are you sure the policy is referring to the max PTO that can be paid out, or the max PTO that can be rolled over to the next year?
How much is it
I hear so many people getting stung with PTO. I'd take it. It's your money. Then bounce.
Don’t know about state laws/max that could be paid out. Sounds initially illegal, but I would recommend using your PTO immediately after your project ends (block off your calendar so you can’t be staffed and tell folks you’re using some leave) then use the minimum amount required to get you past the payout threshold, then come back and put in your notice immediately. No one will staff you for two weeks and you’ll get paid out the max allowable amount.
Thanks VP! That is the way to go!
Are you sure? It’s unusual that they wouldn’t pay out your full PTO balance, not to mention illegal in most places.
Is there a rule in NJ/NY about this? :)
i would just keep taking sick days if you can’t get paid out that pto

Since OP refuses to share what state they're in, this resource should be helpful: https://www.paycor.com/resource-center/articles/pto-payout-laws-by-state/
The process is different depending on which state you live in…
