I have a remote trial beginning soon and am wondering if anyone has any tips or insights of anything that you found in your experience to be particularly helpful or necessary to have/bring into the office in preparation for long hours at the office/war room during a trial. TIA

Comfy clothes to change into if acceptable at your firm. High protein snacks. Chargers for everything. Ponytail holders. If you wear contacts, bring contact solution and a case and your glasses. Sometimes my eyes just tap out at a certain point in the night. Best of luck to you!!

Snacks! And some more substantial meals to keep in the fridge. And then you have to remember to actually eat at the end of the day before/while you prepare for the next day.

Invest in a good trial tech. Make sure you stand up to present just like you are in court. For some reason the jurors were bothered by us sitting in our last zoom trial. Make sure you do a tech run through with your witnesses and that they have access to the exhibits. Practice that too. Also if you are a woman put on twice the makeup you normally do for the camera. Also black background is really harsh. We hung grey curtains behind us which was better. Oh and see if the judge can advise the jurors beforehand that if they see counsel looking down or at documents you are working on the case and not something else. Our jurors told us after they thought we were shopping on Amazon or something. Both plaintiffs counsel and I told them no - we were pulling documents and working on our cross examination.

working for deloitte this summer in their gps consulting practice in the dmv. Unfortunately, due to some difficult family circumstances, I believe I’ll have to move back home to Miami after college. If I do receive a return offer, is there any chance I can ask for it to be remote/be moved to the miami office? Should I make that clear to my superiors before offers are given out or will that hamper my chances at getting an offer in the first place? Thanks for the help

Tax Calculation for Remote Jobs outside India

If I work for a UK based company remotely from India, how will the tax calculations work.
Say the salary is 26 LPA in INR, will wiring the salary from UK cost me more than what I would have to pay if it was an Indian Company ?

Please comment your thoughts. If you have experience working in such a scenario, let me know how it went.

Probably would sound silly, but does Gartner provide IT Assets, if yes! What kind, how efficient the systems are in general. I think the current employees who have worked with them ever since WFH started would know better.

Still WFH? What are other chambers doing for task management? Our chambers has been keeping up with assignments, incoming emails needing judge’s eyes, and written orders, all through Microsoft Planner. We share PDFs through Sharepoint folders. Although we still email draft orders back and forth, the system seems to work well enough. We still aren’t operating at our previous capacity because it takes 10x the number of steps to get a motion heard or an order entered—90% of our workload.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to leverage the hive mind in finding out how best to negotiate a verbal offer for a 100%-remote Product Manager role in NYC, with a IT infrastructure/digital services firm (MNC but non-American):

Base salary: 120k

Sign-on bonus:10k

Bonus: 15%

No stock options

How competitive is this, and what should I negotiate for please? The written offer comes after verbal agreement.

I've 10 YOE in tech project management; 7 in product management.

Took my first vacation (1 week) in over a year to visit family. Was bombarded by emails from one partner asking me to complete non-time sensitive motions, which he hasn’t even bothered to review. This is my third firm in three years (first I left as I was severely underpaid, second I left for a 100k increase in salary), but this lack of respect for my boundaries has made me want to move again once I’ve completed 18 mos. Bad? They don’t do this to the other associates (all male).

Fellow millennial lawyers: tell me, in general terms, 1 or 2 clients you acquired and how you acquired them. I feel like the suggested strategies for developing business are always the same: network, build your brand (hate this phrase), market yourself on LinkedIn, etc. Does any of this work? Seems to me to that most business development comes from long-standing contacts (e.g. your childhood best friend is now CEO and needs legal services), so I’m curious how other attorneys developed business.

Advice needed! I started at an ID firm only a few months ago after a long stint doing in-house litigation. I was referred to the firm by a very good friend who also still works there. I quit. I was respectful. Thankfully, every person I have told has been so nice, and I wasn't immediately bounced out by my leadership (which has happened), but I have been surprised by my own bittersweet tears. If they actually cared, why didn't they say so sooner? I gave so much, and I was consumed by this organization. I invested in them, but my investment and dedication were not reciprocated, which is why I ever even entertained leaving. I don't know why it hurts, but it really, really does.
