I have a reservation for 2 tomorrow (2/5) at 12:30pm for Masa NYC (not Hinoki bar). Anyone want to take it off my hands? For $1.3k (at cost)

Pass, but say hi to Wags and Axe when you're there.

Do you mind explaining the reasoning behind a $1.3k reservation? We’re clearly in different tax brackets, but that’s like 2.5 months of food for me.

C1 Yeah, that’s fair. I’ve never gotten quite that high and the most expensive meal was to celebrate proposing to my now wife.

It’s also closer to the high end of the price spectrum for these top tier places. Best experience I ever did was Pujol in CDMX, and they’re under $200/pp with alcohol pairings for each course

This place is no cap $650-800 a person for the tasting menu (depending on seating location and beer supplement) - some of y’all whylin that’s more than my rent

funny

Referring to the $1300 total lol - I wish my rent was $800

No but I’ll go with you if you pay for me

Is there a foodie bowl? You might get more interest and less mocking there

You have to pay for a reservation? Do you get the funds back when you arrive?

Likely a prepaid reservation for a prix fixe menu

My rent is $1,200 a month...

WPP’s recent antics show that they’re clueless about branding. Imagine Johnnie Walker ditched their heritage by renaming itself Johnny! That would’ve been as ineffective as WPP’s solutions.

Our new au pair arrived tonight. Planning to sit down with her tomorrow to talk more about the kids, expectations, etc. Anyone have advice on things they wish they’d covered up front with their children’s caregivers but didn’t? Or things they did cover and were happy they did? Really looking for any advice. Been two years since we had in-home care and the last experience wasn’t great so trying to improve from that

Anyone leave litigation for a different practice (or career)? I’m pigeon-holed in litigation (5 years), and hate it. But I’m having the hardest time getting out! I’ve gone for transactional roles, but my litigation background puts me at the bottom of the stack. I’ve been shooting for in-house for 1.5 years, but it seems most want 8+ years corporate and/or in-house experience. Willing to switch careers—something my legal background will bolster, but what? Feeling a bit lost here.
