Feeling hurt as I saw my childhood friend (who I kept in touch with pre-covid) is out at a restaurant 5 minutes from my place. Used to do monthly zoom HHs with her the first 4-5 months of SAH but have since lost touch as I was being more cautious and she wasn’t due to (her reasons of) being single and not liking living with her elderly parents. I had offered to picnic but she never took the offer (and I haven’t seen her do it with other friends, she only dines at restaurants) (1/2)
A lot of studies have shown that incidents of violence at home increased during the pandemic. Have people been seeing the effects of this in the classroom in terms of more suspected cases of abuse?
Question about help - my older one is in daycare, thinking about putting my 1 yo in the daycare too but when I had the tour of the toddler classroom I am a bit concerned about the quality of care and
My one month old has horrible painful gas. When I spoke to our pediatrician he recommended that I space out his breast-feeding schedule to help with the gas. It really hasn’t done much and his gas is still pretty bad to the point of him crying screaming and he can’t sleep on his back I literally have to sleep with him on my chest in order for him to sleep. any tips on how to help relieve the gas
In one month we cleard out a 5000 sq ft office space and turned it into a lab running high throughput COVID pcr tests (600 per day rn).
Google is providing all US-based employees weekly COVID tests by mail using bioiQ. Any consulting firms out there doing the same? Seems like a great perk.
Feeling like there’s not a specific group for us Econ teachers? Well, now there is! Please feel free to use this to discuss experiences in your classroom and/or share/ask questions for future ideas :)
For those of you who have made or are making a school switch, what did you do with all of your classroom stuff over the summer?
Is anyone else teaching from a trailer this year? They are building a bigger school, so I hope to have a regular classroom next year.
Juggling a child and staying focused at work is becoming more difficult. Both men and women, how do you deal with this? Lack of sleep and time is starting to exhaust me and work is never done.
Driving from Chicago to Grand Rapids for a weekend trip. Any recs along the way or in GR as I’m new to Michigan? Preferably outdoors with COVID. Thanks!
The last show you watched represents the theme for your classroom this year. What is it?
Considering a post Christmas trip to Panama City, Panama. Is this a good place to visit? Covid restrictions seem bearable and it’s not outrageously priced. How long is too long to visit? Any input/recommendations welcome. Thanks!
I probably spent over $2000 this past year but started my first year as a self-contained SPED teacher in an autism program. Such different supplies needed then the general education classroom.
I’ve been asked to weigh in on how to improve my firms parental leave policy. It’s currently 8 weeks paid for birth parent with an extra week for each year at the firm (up to 12 weeks total) and 2 weeks paid for non-birth parent. I’m in a major city, firm is a boutique that has been around a very long time. What would you suggest? Any studies or research you’ve seen recently on trends in parental leave policies also helpful. I’d like to have some sort of data to back up what I recommend. TIA!
End of Year Sign Out Poll: I’m curious how many teachers are required to: give up their keys at the end of the year even when they’re returning, clean out their classroom even when they’re returning, do intensive cleaning/janitorial duties before signing out, or other ridiculous procedures? (My answer in comments)
Is lush really natural and good brand ? Missing regular facials and pampering with covid . Lush products advertise so well however reading mixed reviews. Anyone love their products and any recommendations ?
Just saw another Amex offer on my SPG card (Amex app -> offers) for Marriott and Ritz - $60 back for $300 spend and $100 back for $500 respectively. Don’t think it has to be spent in one stay either.
General question / opinion. How does the general industry view seniors that leave prior to making manager. Do hiring managers and recruiters view those individuals as people who couldn't "hack it" or
what's the best car you've been upgraded to? mine was a BMW X5 at SFO and a Mercedes GLE at LAX
Considering stacking on the Venture X since it pays for itself. Only thing causing me to hold out is the minimum spend. 100k points for 10k is a lot of money for a pretty low earning rate. Do you think they'll give a bigger offer or lower the minimum spend?
New to options trading, been following this bowl a while and trying to get educated with courses on options alpha and TD Ameritrade. How many of yall are able to make consistent extra income from options trading? I’m not expecting BC wins but was hoping after some practice for a little side income to make the no raise year a little less painful. Just wondering if it’s more of a gamble then anything except for the exceptional few...
I passed the first phone case round mid-November and the recruiter said she would schedule my final rounds in January and let me know more details around end of November. I haven't heard anything since- should I follow up? Just wanted to have a set date for interview so I can plan other things accordingly. TIA! McKinsey & Company
Hello! Anyone aware of openings for remote HR coordinator/generalist in the Greater Philadephia area PA?
I recently began to feel Covid-19 symptoms and decided to get tested (waiting for results). My husband took the rapid and tested positive. Meet the Teacher is Monday and school starts for my students on Tuesday. If I have to quarantine, I have no idea how this will work. Will a substitute meet my parents and review the routines and procedures? Has anyone experienced missing the first week or two with your class? I need advice.

Do you a wear metal bracelet watch while working from home or during zoom calls? I notice my keyboard is scratching it badly. Any tips for preventing this?
Can you please share any software your firm uses that you find helpful? Including any add-ons to Microsoft office (for example: excel power query for indexing folders). Also, do you use any internal messaging system (maybe something like slack)? Thanks!
Do any other firms have a policy that requires you to return to work for a certain period after paid parental leave, and if you choose to leave you are required to pay it back? If so, is there anyone who decided to leave before the end of that period? What happens if you can’t afford to pay it back?
Hi all, has anyone in supply chain taken one of the certification exams? (CPSM, CPSD, CSCP) Does it help in any way besides refreshing contents about supply chain? I was thinking might be a good way to strengthen my resume (most of my career in investment analysis) but not really sure if it really brings that much value. Any insights appreciated. #supplychain #cpsm #cpsd #cscp #education #certifications
