I have a third interview tomorrow with a new district. HR has already called my references (after the second interview), and I was a little surprised when they asked me to come in for a third round. In my experience, it’s usually just 2 rounds! Has anyone had a similar experience?

They probably have one other candidate that they are weighing you against. I knew someone who went through five rounds because they had two very equal candidates and they were weighing the pros and cons of each one very carefully. I wish you the best of luck.

I agree with California. There are some that really can’t figure it out.

My district has 3 rounds! I've known some people who have 4! For us the first is a screening interview, the second is a panel interview, and the third is a demo lesson!

I was asked for a demo lesson after my 2nd interview and when I emailed the principal my video she never got back to me. I heard nothing which I think is unprofessional and just rude. Even if they didn’t want to hire me, they could have politely told me. Long story short I ended up getting a better position elsewhere. Everything happens for a reason. :)

I had two interviews virtually in 2017 (I was an out of state hire originally). One was with a dean and the other with that same dean and the principal. I always heard about demo lessons (especially up north), but I've yet to actually meet anyone down here (S. Florida) that had to do that.

Yes. My current position (which I've held for 16 years) was basically three rounds, the final one being 11 with the superintendent. I've heard of up to five rounds. Sounds like you are a finalist and you have a really good shot.

Our district does a demo lesson as the third round. It’s actually a great way to see how teachers interact with students, formulate question, and command the space. The demo lessons are insightful. Sometimes people who answer all the interview questions correctly cannot engage with students.
