I have a VUL with cash value
I've decided I no longer need the life insurance associated with this policy.
Is there a way to get access to the cash value without owing taxes?
If no, how will it be taxed and how to determine how much gain/tax?

I paid maybe $20k into this policy many years ago. Since then it has increased in value and also paid the premiums from the cash value.
Today it shows $70k cash value.

TIA

I believe if you surrender the policy you have to pay tax on any amount you get over the premiums paid. Could you maybe get a loan against the policy, instead of surrendering? You would still be paying the premiums though. That is the only way, other than dying, of getting the money without tax. I don’t recommend the dying option.

Hello everyone,

I currently work at a company that I really enjoy but can no longer afford to live on the salary. I have worked in the position for almost a year. Should I ask for a raise and explain that I can’t continue to work there due to the salary or just move on and try to find another role? Just landed a full time gig, looking to get some furniture so I’m not working on my parents’ kitchen table during this remote period. Any recommendations for desks and chairs? I’m hoping to find something that’s easy to assemble and break down for when I need to move, and something that won’t cost an arm and a leg.

I know everyone has a different kind of setup that works for them. I currently have a laptop, drawing pad, second monitor, and a desk riser.

After two consecutive excruciating RFEs on my H1B extension, mine is finally approved today!!! Thank you for the support from this team and good luck to the ones who are waiting!
