Hi Fishes,
I need a Career advice from you all, I am currently working as an Automation Engineer and thinking to switch my profile from Testing to DevOps.
So will it be wise to switch to DevOps profile?
Are there Enough Opportunities in Devops?
Or should I think of some other profiles to switch to...

Hello Fishes,
I had given interview Mindtree and cleared both technical rounds. On Tuesday 29 March 2022, I got a call from HR for the final discussion. After that I have not received any response.
I have been calling the HR and her manager, both are not responding to mail or calls.
Is there a way to get some information if my candidature is still in progress or is this delay natural? I have another offer from another company, but am more interested in joining Mindtree.

If it’s not immediate family like a parent or sibling I would decline and not think twice about it.
If it is immediate family I’d still decline with some apologetic phrasing and send a nicer gift or volunteer to help organize a virtual celebration on a different day for anyone else who can’t make it (if the couple would like that).

Thank you! Yeah I think that makes a lot of sense. Also yes they will have a video feed for the event, which I think should be enough for me to attend

No you're not in the wrong. Ask for a zoom link, send a gift, but say that you're really not able to. With love and kisses and any of the assurance they need.
The request is your physical attendance, but the need is feeling connected for an important event. If you can get creative about how to be connected without being physically present, I think you'll be meeting the need in a way that honors your boundaries

Thanks C1! This is a great idea

I don't think you're wrong at all OP. Like SM1 said, if it's a close family you really care about I would offer a more generous gift with a kind note.

Thanks D1! I'm glad to know that its not me being unreasonable in this ask :)
Everyone is on some part the spectrum of comfortability re: COVID. Only you can decide what’s right for you. If you are not comfortable and go anyway, you will not be able to enjoy it and may set yourself up fir some resentment.
There’s a way you can kindly decline and perhaps be there virtually. Maybe even offer to do something special on their anniversary in person? Just an idea.

Thats a great point. Even if I'm there physically, mentally I'll be distracted. Yes, that would be great! Or even meet up once things get better!

They seem to want me to go, even though I'm pretty hesitant. I'm a little annoyed, because its so unnecessary, given the current situation. Am I in the wrong here?
I think it depends...is it in a location with high rates of covid or increasing? Will they have mask precautions in place? Do you have any pre-existing conditions?
Personally, I would just go. But I’m young, healthy, and no pre-existing conditions.
Yep I feel you OP, I had the exact same annoyance when I got invites for bachelorette weekends last month 🙄
