I have about 40K in savings, 35K in stocks, 110K in 401K. No debt and loans. I am thinking about buying a house/Condo in a year or two. I contribute 12% to my 401K. Any investment suggestions until I buy a house/condo? Right now I am comfortable paying up to $1800/month for mortgage loan. Single here.

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.

Bought a SFH where I’d barely break even given the realtors estimate of 1.1k rent. Neighbor kindly let me know going rate was actually 1.6k. Put it up for 1.5k to get a nicer long term tenant and signed in 2 weeks. First investment property and learned a lot from here/bigger pockets so feeling pretty good!

Anyone here that is an ER travel nurse? I have found info just searching online, but was wondering if any ER travel nurses here have any insight or experience with taking a travel assignment in the PACU with only ever working in the ER prior to assignment.
I mean, they do say “PACU is where ER nurses go to die” (die = retiree/burnout to) lol but wondering if anyone has actually gone from solely ER and into PACU for the first time on assignment?

Will be interesting to hear the rhetoric from Horner and Red Bull about Bottas this week. I felt the Lewis/Max incident was a racing incident, but what Bottas did was far more "amateurish". Red Bull said it wasn't personal with Lewis, but it seemed to cross the line with the rhetoric and claiming Lewis did it intentionally. What will they say this time??

Curious about your thoughts on this one. I get why people maximize their 401(k)s, IRAs, etc for retirement. But what if your retirement investments get significantly reduced due to a stock market crash, or a banking/financial institution system failure (especially as people get close to their retirement age)? I mean with all the changes in the world, who is to say that these institutions are to be trusted? At the end of the day, your investments, paychecks, etc are just a number on a screen.

Someone pls educate me on 401ks! If I earn 80k and my employer does a dollar for dollar match up to 3% of my contribution and then 50 cents on the dollar match for the next 2% I contribute, would the breakdown look like this:

3% employee contribution: 2400
2% employee contribution: 1600
First 3% employee match at 100%: 2400
Second 2% employee match at 50%: 800

Or is it based on the 19,500 401k max amount?
