Is my purchase history not good enough?
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-09-28/rolex-discount-on-sale-uk
From the article,
With the British pound retreating to record lows against the US dollar, a steel Rolex GMT-Master II that sells for $11,289 in the US can be purchased for $9,293 in the UK with US dollars, a discount of 18%, according to WatchPro. A 41mm diameter Datejust model can be bought in the UK for $7,088 in US dollars, a discount of 19% compared to US retail.
This might be my new daily. 36mm is so comfy.

Question is, what is your financial situation? If you can afford it, go for it! But I wouldn’t mortgage your house for a watch or put yourself in a precarious position if you are living paycheck to paycheck (the number of paycheck millionaires out there is larger than you might think)! A trust and estates lawyer I know once told me “it’s not what you make, it’s what you spend”!
Being prudent, all investments have a degree of volatility. So you could try to grow your money and end up with less. And if you act to minimize risk, you’ll minimize upside too.
But you buy a Patek for different reasons. It’s a thing of beauty that measures the seconds of your existence with the kind of perfection your all too short time on Earth demands. It will never not do that.
So speaking purely rationally, there’s only one smart choice.
This is such an underrated comment!
These posts are why I come here… No one in the real world understands how this is a perfectly legitimate question.
The important question is, can you just go out and buy a Patek? If you can, I absolutely would. If I went there They’d laugh me out of the boutique

Tbh I’m surprised you got to 50K of cash and didn’t already have it already in a mutual fund or at least a savings account? Did you just get a bonus or something?
Patek over mutual funds - never mutual funds, you’re better with a low cost index fund which have been shown to have better returns net of fees.

If you can find a nautilus or aquanaut at retail, you better buy it lol
Rising Star
What kind of question is that? Of course Patek…lol
Sure you can. Saw about 10 in the case yesterday. That said, you won’t find a Nautilus or Aquanaut anywhere.
The fact that you included a patek in your question...the answer is yes a patek.
If you are able to buy a Nautilus or Aquanaut then you buy that. It’s arbitrage. If actually having the Patek has little value to you personally your gain can be plowed back into a mutual fund. If it does have value to you I’d still buy it and borrow the amount cheaply to invest because you have downside protection in the Patek.
We are entering a window of market volatility now until end of September, not investment advice, but I am cautiously holding 50% cash with my portfolio at the moment
@m1… S&P futures down nearly 100 points today. A correction every now and then is healthy rather than letting this build up
