If you are done teaching, there is nearly nothing they can do to you.
I'd give them the heads up ASAP, as a courtesy; they so much as inconvenience you because of this, you gather your things and wish them luck.
Congratulations on escaping.
I’d ask your new employer if they can work with you to start after the school year. That way you can still get paid during the months of June and July, if you are getting paid on a 12 month schedule.
In my contract you have to give 30 days! I would check the specific language of your contract if you want to be responsible! If you’re done for good and your school has been toxic and awful - I say give the normal 2 weeks and forget them!
Regardless if the situation, toxic or not, do the professional and respectful thing. It is a reflection on you, not them.
The only thing that would give me pause is if you're worried they'll fire you immediately, and you can't afford to go that long without working.
If the new job would let you start early, or if you're not worried about that happening, tell them now. I'm admin at my school, and we've struggled to fill every opening. This has been true for years, but it's much worse this year. Six weeks instead of two makes it far more likely they can find someone so there's continuous instruction instead of a gap where the kids are just babysat by subs.
If you need to leave prior to the end of your contract, it would be a huge courtesy to let them know now because it’s hard to find a long-term sub who will be wrapping up the last couple weeks and finalizing grades. This is a tough year. Good luck!
Now
How long do you feel like being without a check?
They may replace you quickly with a longterm sub.
If they can find one!

Depending on your contract, you might face legal issues if you're quitting before the end of the school year.
I would consult your union and/or a lawyer about how to proceed.
I would inform them now, if they retaliate in any way, celebrate your immediate freedom from them! When is the school year scheduled to end?
Congratulations on your new role! May I ask which industry you transitioned into?
Research, advising and consulting!
Start using any sick days that you have, now!
Our district pays $20/day and then takes taxes out. What an insult.
Give them the common courtesy and tell them as soon as possible. Gives them time to get a sub to replace you. Good luck with your new position.
Rising Star
As a courtesy, as soon as possible, to find some kind of qualified replacement. If you want to stick it to them or tick them off (and burn any possible bridges) do 2 weeks.
Are you concerned about your students ?
No. My students are why I’m leaving. The disrespect, verbal abuse is not worth it.

Do they have to give you notice?
Sooner rather than later!
