Which one are you?
This market got me super down 😞
I interviewed for Data Analyst role at EY, it went well and the job sounds great, but I'm a bit hesitant to leave PwC because I really like the firm and I'm just 8 months in my job as an associate at a subgroup of ITS that has some focus on technology and analytics but it's mostly tax compliance.
I do want to transition to data analytics but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to go to another big 4, or maybe just look for a position in industry.
Any advice or similar experience?

No. Take the time off before you start. Period.
Nope you booked, it was approved. Don’t move it. I’m taking that same week and I’m onboarding to a project the week before. They’re making it work for me, that’s care and respect. Good luck OP!
Sigh* I got the “I need to you to start in x ninth” plea. I moved heaven and earth to do it, then sat in the bench for 2 months.
Take care of you. No one else will. And your next vacay is probably a year away.
Take the PTO, you deserved it and if your new manager can’t handle it then your new manager is probably not a really good manager after all. For example if you’d leave the company your manager would find a (temporary) solution as well. Nobody should lose PTO at the end of the year.
No, tell your manager you have commitments that we’re already planned
Why wouldn’t you have been transparent with your manager before accepting the role? Lol
I would say that unfortunately you cannot change your plans.
This happened to me - I had a start date the second full week in January and had travel plans from Christmas until the start date. While traveling abroad I got an email asking if I could move up my start date to the earlier week so they could onboard a large group together.
New role so perfect opportunity to set boundaries now. If you move your vacation before you even start, they will feel comfortable asking you to do it again.
Set boundaries. If they really push back, it's probably not somewhere you want to be anyways

The manager seems like the type that will take whatever you’re willing to give. Be firm. If he/she isn’t cool with it, they can staff somebody else. Sounds like they’ll just be looking to take advantage of you throughout the life of the project anyways.

This is a great way to set your boundaries upfront.
