If you know they billed the incorrect code, call up the doctor's office and have them bill the proper code and resubmit to your insurance company. Then refund you whatever amount may be due to you. Honest mistakes happen. And also sometimes their are dishonest offices or billing departments. You need to review your bills like a hawk. I was once billed for an expensive outpatient procedure that I never had done and would have certainly remember given its level of discomfort. And just last year my insurance company tried to deny a claim and bill me nearly $400 for the first in a series of treatments that would have cost me over $1000. Ladies, check your medical bills, ask questions, be assertive and push back when you expect either your doctor or insurance company are in the wrong.

Hi thanks! More information below my original post but they won't respond to my calls or emails. They just keep sending the same bill.

Sometimes the place of service makes a difference, regardless of the HCPCS code. Ask them to tell you whether the POS (Place of Service) billed was an 22 or 11 - 11 is a doctor’s office and 22 is an outpatient facility, which is processed differently by insurance companies and often results in your deductible or higher outpatient copay being applied. Also, if they’re failing to respond to your inquiries, look up the Office Manager’s work email and send an email directly to her and CC your local Attorney General. Works like a charm 😉

You can also contact your local news consumer reports reporter... they can help as well; or just tag the office on social media with a bunch of the news outlets as well. Bad attention works too.

If you haven’t paid yet, do not pay until they correct the bill. That can make it harder to get your money back.

And I had to pay $100 after insurance. I've called the 1st office multiple times and also emailed them, reminding them of the situation. I told them to rebill with the correct code, and send me the corrected bill. Everytime I call, I have to leave a voicemail, and I haven't received a call or email back. They just keep sending me with a new bill with the same amount, threatening to send to collections, "this is the 5th time we are sending this bill" etc. I don't know what to do. I can technically afford the bill, but honestly don't want to. don't understand why they won't call me back, won't acknowledge the error. Any advice on what I can do?

I had similar issue previously few years back. Ask to speak to their billing department and they should be able to sort it out. Good luck.

16 weeks and so worried all of the stress I’m under is going to hurt the baby. Between work, my own scary (non-pregnancy) health stuff, the pandemic, my mom (who is a widow and lives alone, basically isolated by choice due to covid) is having health issues, and pressures to keep billable hours up, I’ve been having complete breakdowns. Today I spent almost the entire day crying and now have to make up the billable time this weekend. I really worry abt what effect this will have on the babe.

How are folks thinking about permanent life insurance? 45, making let’s say for example (not my exact numbers): $1M per year, not yet vested in pension. Was thinking need to replace the post tax take home, about $550k NPV’ed at 5% to age 55, so that’s like $3.2M. Maybe pension is worth $2.5M so I think that means I should have $5.7 total you want death to have no financial impact. Also was going to do $1M of that in perm w/ LTC rider. Sound right?

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)
