Take leave then quit; no brainer

I thought medical coverage is usually covered for the month you quit if after a certain date?

like

It’s a better decision financially since you anyway plan to quit. Also, if the team can manage without you while you are on vacation; the transition will be smooth

It was when I quit my last job. You could ask your insurance rather than company. They shouldn’t be able to share that info back to your co

There is always that argument that you earn more vacation while taking vacation, but the firm will pay out vacation anyways so you won’t be leaving much (if any based on accrual timing). I would consider when your last day would be as more important. PwC will provide healthcare through the end of the month of your last day, so if you can leave near the beginning of a month and start the new job at the end, I think you’d have all bases covered and leave with better optics.

like

PwC1 is correct; you will be covered until the end of the month you resign. You are also eligible for COBRA once your insurance coverage expires so you may want to check how much it would cost.

For example, one issue would be no medical coverage for my family for a few weeks

Capco, can you elaborate? Why would you choose that option? Just trying to make the best decision

A1, is that always the case?

Do they pay out PTO? If yes, then quit, take two weeks off. If no, use your PTO

Agree with SC1, if our company pays out PTO why not leave the company, not start for two weeks and get paid out for the PTO anyway, essentially having your cake and eating it too

Do both! Vacation then quit then break in between jobs

And get them to pay out your notice period (but making you stay home) by saying you’re leaving to competitor. Free holiday and doesn’t use your pto

Does it take effect if youre using pto and not the parental leave (maybe save your primary parental leave for a day later or something)?
