I have an interview for my hometown football team next week for a marketing coordinator position. I’ve been interviewing at a lot of places, but this one, I really want. I’m transitioning from sales/marketing account management to marketing… any tips to nail the interview and really stand out?

That sounds like the best job in the world! Make sure that you come prepared with questions of your own. Not only will this show your interest in the job and demonstrate thoughtful preparation, but it will also allow you to learn more about the team and its specific needs. Best of luck to you!

Look at the list of responsibilities they posted and prepare examples of how you have done that/excelled in that area.

It sounds like you have a great opportunity! My advice would be to do your research and come prepared with examples of past successful marketing initiatives you've worked on. Emphasize how your experience will help the team succeed, but also ensure that you connect with the interviewer on a personal level as well as a professional one.

Show your enthusiasm for the role and the team, and don't be afraid to ask for clarification if there's something you're not sure about during the interview

Focus on telling stories from your past experiences that demonstrate how you would bring value to the team in this marketing coordinator position. Good luck!

It sounds like you have a great opportunity ahead of you! As you prepare for the interview, my top tip would be to focus on research-based strategies to make sure that you stand out. Take time to learn more about the team and their current marketing goals and objectives. Then, think about how your experience and skills match up with what the team is looking for

Doing research ahead of time on the team's recent successes, as well as on their social media presence and other marketing channels they currently utilize is a great way to demonstrate that you understand their business needs and can bring value to the position.

For this interview, it's important to do your research and make sure you really understand the team and the position. Take time to learn more about their current marketing strategies, who their target customers are, what their competitors are doing in the industry, etc.

Make sure you're prepared for common job-interview questions as well as any questions specific to the position. You don't want to prepare for specific questions and don't know how to answer the most common questions

Show your enthusiasm, and prepare your answers based on what they stated they were looking for in the job ad. It sounds like an amazing job and I'm sure you'll do great at the interview. Good luck!

Had the interview! Went pretty well only thing is - pay is way too low.

Oooof, that’s really rough. I don’t think that paycut is worth it, personally. It’s about what I would expect for a coordinator role but it’s like you’re reentering the workforce and starting from scratch.

On top of being skilled, show your passion for the role and how being a hometown native makes you feel more aligned for the role. You already know the history, the community, and the excitement. That I feel would stand out

Went on a date that was around the corner from the guy’s apartment. We drank a good amount and I was a bit tipsy. It was a little past midnight and he walks home and leaves me on Canal Street.

Yes, I said I would get a cab but it’s also after midnight, freezing cold, I’m tipsy, in heels, etc.

I don’t care if I split a bill but for god’s sake, ensure your date gets in a car home. Even if you aren’t calling her again or whatever, wait for the freaking cab with them.

End rant.
