I have an interview next week and want to vet the new law firm with questions to determine if there’s a good work-life balance, respect for how work is delegated (i.e., attorneys are not routinely asked to do obvious paralegal work), and what overall systems/structures are in place to make it a functional/successful environment. What sorts of questions do you think would get this info and also cut through the usual bs of “we’re a family here” when in reality no one talks to each other?

My organization absorbed another and the former deputy PM became a branch head - a demotion. For org was more focused on tech dev and not delivering a product on a sked. New org is very focused on that. He is not a driving leader, but is the only one with the tech knowledge needed. He is retirement eligible. Is it normal to be nervous while working at a startup? This is my third startup and a month in I’m finding myself a bit anxious. I was laid off after my last company was acquired, and this company is an entirely new role and industry for me that is not Saas. I don’t know our financials exactly but it seems like we are hemorrhaging money in several areas. My managing director has also been over several past startups that have ALL failed or filed bankruptcy. Am I paranoid or justified?

Recently got called for an interview for strategy/ operations role by a Faang company. I had my first screening call with the hiring manager, mostly all behavioral questions so hard to tell the result. I am interviewing for a new IT Manager position. I started putting out soft feelers and then hit the hunt harder. The problem: I have one offer and need to give an answer by next Wednesday. I have two other opportunities that are in final steps but probably won’t have offers by next Wednesday. Both of the other offers will be higher pay but clearly are uncertain for offers. I had two separate interviews these past two weeks. The first one I really connected with the interviewers and felt like I hit it out of the park. The second one I didn’t feel I was as prepared for and felt like I totally bombed it. Has anyone else had this experience and still was able to move forward?
