I have an interview scheduled for this Friday but I’m feeling very unprepared. I need more time to think through my professional experiences and how that translates to the role in question. How does it look if I move the interview to next Friday? Would that raise eyebrows?

It’s only Wednesday. You still have time to prepare. Preparing takes less time than you think. You could easily spend more time stressing than the time it takes to compare resume to job description then update.

I mean you can say you have an emergency and need to push. However I think the best thing to do would be to cut up your resume, line by line with your professional experience and then cut up the job description. Do a simple kiddy exercise and match the experience you have with the description of the job. Should make it easier and more real and might help with memorization

I totally agree with the above comment. That is exactly how i started writing my cover letters off late, literally a T shape to show job requirements on the left & how my exp. is relevant/of value on the right. That has helped me with interviews too.

With the way jobs are hiring right now, I wouldn’t move it. I’d take advantage of the time you currently have to meet with them because you never know where they are in the interview process Go back to the job description, copy and paste it into a doc, and go through job duties and notate how your current experience aligns with that specific duty (ie, if the job duty is saying you’ll be collaborating with stakeholders, write out a brief description of 1-2 times where you’ve done this). Also try to quantify things where you can.

I just recently had an interview, and what helped me is saying stories out loud, and then relating them back to experience. I was really stressed and debated telling them I was sick to reschedule, but agreed with the above, it takes so much less time to prepare than you think. You lived your life, you know the stories, just talk through them and frame them towards the job. I also listened to a couple of podcasts on the days leading up to it, ones with interview tips and tricks.

For the first time in my life, I have a mouse problem in my apt. It’s a pre-war coop. Saw one for the first time in July in the middle of the day (!) landlord had someone come out and plug holes from where I saw it come from. Three months later, found a mouse in a glue trap and then some droppings. Been going crazy caulking and filling any opening with steel wool and caulk, but does anyone have experience with this?? At what point do you just move? Don’t know if I can take this anymore.

Can’t help but feel invisible in my current situation- I’ve been pursuing a transfer for over a year (within my same group) and even though I’ve repeatedly asked for help and pulled in directors and partners —I keep getting pawned off to different people. This has cost me a promotion this year although I’m a high performer and my pay is at the high end of my bracket. Meanwhile, white colleagues are getting promoted each year (unheard of). I am told that i’m getting paid well so to be ‘happy’

How do you know when you have enough money? I got laid off in the spring, but don’t feel a pressing need to get a new job right away. Have 3 rental properties, all paid off, get about $3k/mth net from that, have about $200k in a 401k and another $200k in more-liquid investments. I spend less than $2k/mth and feel happy and comfortable. Not married and no kids... but would like that one day, so thinking of maybe saving some more money for that.
