Hey All. I had my 2nd round interviews for a Lead Solution Engineer role at Salesforce on Monday (2 days ago). It was w/ 2 separate SEs, and I thought both interviews went very well. Have yet to hear from the recruiter, though, which seems odd. Especially given how responsive the recruiter's been prior to this.

Is that normal? Do I just need to be patient or should I mentally prepare for a rejection? Thanks!

Studied quantitative economics/minor in computer science, so I’ve got SQL/Python skills. BA and PMO experience in the ERP implementation space.

Hi 👋 Any good UX books for senior designer level that helps with strategy, and good frameworks, or anything that will help me with my thought process? I have the basic books like don’t make me think, and 100 things. I’ll be joining a startup soon as chief designer, and will be back to being a full stack designer — I’ve been an IC for the past few years, so I definitely need to improve on strategies and maybe frameworks when it comes to UX. Will appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! 🙏🏻

Is it a good thing to be staffed on one huge deal? I mean yes it is huge and will take all my time and more and I would have no time for other files/mandates from other lawyers in the firm. But I just got hired (like last week) and thought that it would be a good thing to work with different lawyers and meet people and do different things rather than just one huge deal? Also can’t really say no to this ! What do you guys think?

Nothing has really changed on my end other than a job change with a 15% hike in pay. Anyone else not icing the same trend ?

Additional Posts in In-House Counsel

My boss and another colleague both ALWAYS cc themselves on every email—it’s clearly set up as an auto rule (ie it’s not just on “important” or “CYA” type emails). Why would one want to do this? Is it to do with how Outlook doesn’t move/copy your reply emails when you file away emails? Wouldn’t “conversation mode” help with that problem? Genuinely trying to understand this

Also planning to check LinkedIn and other resources. The CEO announced that we’re now on the “Twitter model” where everyone will work long hours at high intensity, including weekends, vacations and holidays. What is the job market looking like these days for an in-house attorney with 10+ YOE (especially if fully remote)? I took an AGC job almost a year ago for a multitude of reasons that I did not have a choice in, but my base salary is at least 60-80K less than it should be and the benefits are lacking/nonexistent. I really like my boss, my company, I love what I do, and I don’t want to job hop, but the pay is not ever going to be what I need (especially in comparison to the job duties).

My co-worker is so resentful and competitive because I was promoted over her last year which caused a demotion on her end. People in the company still go to her for things that should be for me but she rarely corrects them. Shes still involved in the company too in a way that allows her to know secrets that I should know about but never do. I technically am above her within the company but this is how things are. I just do my job and try to not let it bother me but it does. Any suggestions?

A global biotech is offering an AGC position with $400k all-in comp. My main concern is justifying that kind of salary while in house. I feel like in the next downturn they will go after the most expensive employees that don't increase the bottom line, so lawyers will be on the chopping block. For those of you in biotech/pharma - is my concern exaggerated?

Has anyone lateraled from big law into an in-house role at one of your firm’s clients? I feel like this happens quite a lot and curious how that process went (did you reach out to them, they to you, etc)? I’m in my second year and staffed on a large client & starting to develop a relationship which I’d like to maintain. I’m thinking about hanging in here for another year or two but then starting to look to lateral. Would love to work for this company if a position is available at that time.

Newb Question: Starting the search so going in blind. What roles do you apply for in an house position? I'm an M&A associate, but I look at these in house roles and have no idea what are the types I would be considered for: regulatory? product counsel? compliance? The only one for sure I know I'd get a look is securities counsel...what did others apply to? What doe these other roles do? And are the year ranges hard cut offs? Does 5 years mean 5 years or will the company consider 3-4?
