It’s time for me to move on from my back office/CBS job at EY. I’ve been able to get through to recruiter and hiring manager screening round with FAANG employers and some tech companies but never beyond that. How can I differentiate myself when I’m probably also up against our client facing colleagues in consulting. I have about 12 years experience (7 at EY doing the same thing).
I have raised a laptop replacement TT but it haven't even dispatched & I'll be going back to Bangalore in 5days, so if the laptop doesn't get delivered to me before I go off to Bangalore, can i raise another TT & get it exchanged in the office??? C1: Thanks for sharing!!
Don’t ramble, but use guideposts (“I’m going to talk about X, Y, then Z”, then talk about those things).
Remember that the interviewer is human and was once in your exact same place.
It’s okay to ask for a moment to gather your thoughts.
Keep things in perspective, it’s just one interview with one firm. Enjoy the process.
Good luck!
This. Solid advice. Thank you for sharing! Don't ramble- I need to remember that.
In addition to C1, when doing calculations dont make an error and If you are assuming something tell the interviewer that you are assuming xyz and hence doing abc. If you are going in the wrong direction, interviewer will nudge you on the right path. (Nothing wrong if this happens)
All the best!
McK1: Thank you. Can I use Excel in doing my calculations or it will be better to do the math by myself?
Got it, thanks again!
Take a minute to breathe if you ever feel nerves or anxiety rising. Remember that interviewer is rooting for you too.
Talk your thought process aloud.
If you know you screwed up, have set language to say: “looks like I took a wrong turn earlier. Given our time issues should I go back or just keep going with this?”
If u r stuck, then say “hmm, I’m going to need to think this through..”
Thanks to everyone! I’m not going to lie I’m pretty nervous right now but I have a good feeling that I will do my best tomorrow
Belly breathe 5 times each time you get nervous
Have a routine ready to re-center you as well as your thoughts. Especially your thoughts, because they will be racing non-stop. So focus your mind and let your preparation be your guide. Good luck!
