I have an offer for $250k TC from AWS, which is a good $50k more than I make now, but I don't have RSU. I'm expereincing some burnout, and I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to start off with a bang. What do I do?

This might be a perfect opportunity for you. You would be able to ease into a new position by playing the "I'm new card" while overcoming your burnout. No one, even at AWS, is going to expect you to hit the ground running. That is an expectation burden that we, as awesome workers, put on ourselves.

This sounds good opportunity to switch, in the start there will always be leeway and team won’t expect much output till you get familiar with things. Might as well take a week or two off between switch and go for a vacation or do something you like.

Had not remotely considered these things. Thanks guys. I think I will take some time off and that's good to know that the expectations wouldn't be WORSE at first.

I would definitely take a small break between the two if you can. It sounds like you need a chance to start refreshed and from a good place.

Looking for a suggestion for a date spot that would be convenient and a good halfway meeting point: i’m in Murray Hill and my date is coming from Astoria. I usually have my dates meet me here when they live in Manhattan but I think somewhere halfway would be more fair in this case. Ideas?

No offense, just really curious - why does obtaining an MBA make you a more attractive applicant? For which roles is an MBA critical for? Especially if you went business school for your undergrad. Won’t the courses regurgitate the same ideas taught in undergrad? This question does not apply to tuition reimbursement opptys (I would take advantage) or for people who have studied any other field but business for undergrad

I will be doing someheavy recruiting for Product Managers. Having a hard time with the existing team to persuade them that the uniqorns they are looking for dont exist. They are fixated that unless someone does not know to work agile or have tech specific experience they dont want to see them. Some of the questions also they have for candidates are an imitation of big corp companies like google, facebook etc. I am a big advocate on giving chances and trying to get through to them. Any ideas?

This may be an unpopular opinion.

But I think it's kinda shitty that when FAANG people get laid off, everyone feels bad for them and they get so many resources to get rehired, but the same is not true for people that get laid off at smaller lesser known organizations.

Like those FAANG people will be fine, they got generous severance packages. The people who actually need help often get overlooked or are forgotten.

I am about to hand in my notice at a job I am pretty secure in, to go to a job for a relatively new company (with a significant salary increase). Any tips for:

1. Getting over the nerves that are as a result of taking a risk (I am late 30's)
2. The guilt of leaving a role where I have an amazing working relationship with all my colleagues and my boss

Any tips would be appreciated as I am a mess of nerves!!

Hello,
I’m a junior data scientist and in my current job I mostly code using Pyspark (no machine learning) so I would like to work on a side project that could leverage my profile and data science/ML skills. I’m overwhelmed by the many suggestions online and would prefer to get a suggestion directly from professionals.
PS : I’m not a beginner.
