I have an offer from Amazon for Bay area. My current base is 180K and got a 40K AIP. Manager 2. Amazon is offering base of 160K but first year TC is 310K (160K + 135K sign on + stocks 5percent) . Is it okie to go on a lower base? The team is not budging and say they have given me the best offer already. I am grateful for the offer but lower base is bothering me.

Amazon base is capped at 160k and 180k in SF and NY. You could push a bit more for the base. There might be room for an increase year over year.
What's your TC for second year? It is not really helpful to include the sign on bonus in your TC since it is not recurring.

Added more details. Second year sign on is $110K again

I always assume Im going to stay at a place minimum 2-years so I always use 2-year avg comp to compare with signing bonuses. Looks like $233K would be your 2-year avg in new role.

like

His 2 year avg is going to be around 310k because second year 15% of his stocks will vest and he will get a bonus too. This is assuming stocks don't appreciate.

Amazon base is capped like the above poster said. Even if you were a VP making 5M your base would be 160. Amazon stock is as good as cash i would not worry about it at all.

That’s a great offer. The sign-on is pretty good! I am joining Deloitte soon but hope to boomerang back to tech after gaining a couple years’ experience. Is it okay if I DM you?

How long do you plan to be with Amazon?

Sorry guys and gals. I should have added this before itself. I have year 2 sign on as $110k as well. And 100 RSU which vest in four years as 5,15,40,40 percent. I plan to stay for 2 years or so atleast and then jump to a fully remote role when I become a mom.

Sounds like a great offer! Congrats!

Just curious ..what's your total YOE?

Any advice on telling your boss you’re leaving your team? For context, I’m the 4th one leaving within a month (boring product, not toxic or anything), and the manager id be telling is my skip level, as my old manager left the team and I’m actually moving to his new team. Trying not to throw shade on my old (new? lol) manager bc I know that he spent all of his career in this department before moving. Is there any way to soften the blow, other than just giving a 2-3 week notice?

I transferred into advisory from another function at the firm. I had about a year of experience in the other group, some of which is transferable so I'm considered "experienced" hire. My salary was kept the same and I was just happy not to take a pay cut. Now I'm wondering what other associates in this group start at/make after a year for comparison. Any ideas? I'm based in NYC.
