I have an offer to join a Tier 2 consulting firm next year (entry level). However, it seems like they have over-hired and they are now pushing the start date back by a few months. This is not great in itself, as I handed in my notice to my current employer last week, but I was wondering if I should be concerned about further pushbacks or even them withdrawing the offer. Is this something that happens, or will it just be a delay as they say?

The offers are honoured - our main concern at the moment is actually people retracting their acceptance / getting other roles they want to commit to long term in the meantime.
I’m assuming you got the notice in the last day or so? Also to be fair, we didn’t over hire during covid, it’s a little more complex than that (not structural, just strange entry flows)

FWIW, I’m sorry this has happened. Really sucks, but we are very focused on honouring the offers which have already been signed. We will adjust forward hiring if conditions remain poor, but will make sure those who already signed get to start.

Thank you, it is really reassuring to read this, especially given everything going on in the market (yes, we got the notice yesterday). And thank you for the kind words, it is not ideal but if it is as you say it will be a small setback on the grand scheme of things. Appreciate it!

I’m fairly confident it will just be a delay as someone who works at that Tier 2 and knows what it’s like on the inside.

I get the impression that this is just a measure to make sure you don’t start, then sit around on the beach for a month not learning anything and become despondent. Asking you to delay your start date isn’t great for you either, but it has the benefit of saving them some money.

Thank you for the reassurance, very helpful to get an opinion from inside - also what you said is the reason we were given so good to know it is actually your perception too.

Similar thing happened with new grads in my team last year as a result of Covid. They joined in Feb rather than September

My bg check won't clear until maybe 9/22. Should I just go ahead and give my current employer a notice/resignation letter?

Shooting to resign by 9/26 or 9/27 and I don't wanna be a dick and tell them last minute but I know I don't owe it to them either.

People who work in banking, and especially in France, have you ever been badly treated by your colleagues with an attitude as if you’re not even worth a piece of sh** ?

I don’t know if it’s because people in the banks are like this or if it’s because french people are rude. But the way my colleagues behave (fortunately, just some of them, not all) would be considered extremely impolite and uneducated in Asia (where I’m from). Would love to hear some of your opinions about this!

In my HSA I am holding 4% in ARKG and 4% in PBW (clean energy index). Both are down 50%... looking to consolidate my funds, so I am considering selling them both and allocating the 8% into something like XT? I understand I made those purchases in times of extreme optimism, so that is an F on my part.

My other funds in there are 64% VTI, 16% VXUS, 5% VWO and 7% EMQQ.

Looking to buy, hold, and DCA. Would you swap ARKG/PBW for something like XT?

Hi all

I recently accepted a role in a start-up and received the contract today.

The offer letter mentioned 'enhanced' parental pay but the contract mentions 'statutory'

I'm not planning on using this benefit anytime soon but that if I need to I won't be messed about.

Any of you UK based would be able to let me know the amount of details they have in this section of their contract? Not sure what the norm is? (I was contractor before so not so relevant info). Thanks in advance!

Thank you!
