Taking it from another angle, accepting an offer does not really mean you can not continue the FAANG recruitment process You can leave a company before or during probation period because a counter offer being transparent on it. At least legally, the way contracts are done, it is not a good practice... but asuming this is possible in your case and also assuming that: - Start date is at least February or March - Trial period is at least 1 month after that You have 2-3 months to see what happens with FAANG and communicate to the company handing the offer now It's raw advise and not everyone can digest it but it's something to take into account before ending without an offer from FAANG or from this current company
I did the same thing and was honest with the company that hired me about getting the better (higher paying) position. They were understanding/couldn't compete and wished me well! I just leave the first company off my resume because I wasn't there for long and hardly contributed.
Intuitively I think slipping it in Convo would help give you leverage/preference, but realistically I assume you getting your offer is dependent on the opinion of the leads interviewing you. What's the downside of mentioning it earlier?
To add to my other comments- companies don’t care 2 hoots about us, you look out for number 1. I rescued a contract for my previous employer with the most valuable US company in history, they laid me off anyway. Company before that, helped land $52 million dollar deal, swept up in a layoff. Before that? My designs secured $85 million in funding. Caught in massive layoff. Before that? Wrote the regular expressions for one of my engineers, who lied that I had asked him for that help. And people like me, except the male engineers, unfortunately. You take care of you.
Mention it as if you are interested in 'full transparency'. It will give you leverage in the interview and allow you to play one offer against another.
I think this is the best approach op
Tell your recruiter you wanna get paid and they need to prove they are worth your time
That's what I'm talking about 👏🏻
Take the interview, don’t turn this opportunity down until you have signed another offer. If you have already accepted and signed another offer go ahead and let this be one more learning experience for both you and the other company. You can politely decline going forward in a few days if this one calls back. My opinion.
Rising Star
it really depends on how long you have to respond to your current offer. Google at fastest will take 4-6 weeks to get through things - and that assumes you are in a highly desirable field
tell them upfront. it gives them an incentive to move you faster through the process
Ughhh idk, this is tough. Honestly, I would take the offer and keep interviewing 😅
Yeah. I might give the FAANG a week to speed it up if they want
