It can take days, weeks or months. For perspective, I applied for my current position in Oct, I didn’t hear from them until early Dec (phone interview), had in person interview at end of Jan.

USACE is begging for bodies, you can apply with them if you’re desperate.

As someone who applied through USAjobs for several years, I highly recommend applying directly through the Agency of interest, if the option is available. When I started doing this, I received a notice for my interview within 2 months. Now I am fully aware this isn’t everyone’s journey, this is just a suggestion from my experience. Best of luck!

I think this goes for everyone: Many congrats and good luck to you for being referred. That's a big step. Also, please make sure you're updating your resume based on the job you're applying to, and once you're referred, don't stop applying. When you're referred, you're still in the company of up to hundreds of resumes that need to go through a SME, a panel, and/or a manager before being offered an interview. Those are pretty slim chances but the more you apply, the better your odds. And tailoring your resume to the targeted vacancy increases your chances of actually receiving that interview. Congrats again and feel free to ask any questions!

Last hiring board I sat on took 14 months from when we had an official vacancy to day 1 of the hire. I believe it was 10 months from the job appearing in USA jobs to Day 1. Sorry.

I was once hired a year after interviewing, because of agency hiring freezes and budgeting. I've also been hired without ever interviewing. So it certainly runs the gambit and you just have to be patient and cautiously optimistic 😁

Mine were because of racial discrimination and as I was overqualifird they vlose that application and next year they open the posición again.

You will only know if you were selected for an interview if you receive an email requesting one. That will not be updated in USAjobs. They also don’t have to have interviews either.

Hello all,

Well, I finally received an answer, just shy of nine months after the notice of referral. It was not the response I had hoped for but at least I know now.

Thanks for all of the answers to my question!

like

They canceled the position I had applied for 😒

I got an application on USA Jobs that has been referred as of June. I really hope they don’t say that they’re going with another applicant 🥵

Congrats and best of luck to you. I would certainly keep applying to positions as you wait. As a "referred" applicant, you can still be up against several dozens to hundreds of others applying for the same job, depending on the job. The competition is actually very intense.

Good points from everybody. Bottom line is that it's agency, organization, and office dependent, as you can see. Probably won't know unless you apply!

It took me 6 months to be hired as a 2210 and I found out they sent my original offer letter to another person 2 months before I got it, so it can take a very long time.

Copper Caps open in Hampton Roads area of Virginia and 1102 training programs with guaranteed steps open at Robins!!! GS 7-9-11 and sometimes 12.

Had a friend not hear back for over a year

Who may never hear back. Keep applying.

The conversation with the girl on the team went well and told me how excited the hiring manager is and called her right away…. I email the recruiter to ask about next steps and nothing……
