I have been a Sr Product Manager/PM/PO for over 15 years, and I am finding it impossible over the last few years to find a role with an organization that actually uses Product management concepts regardless of how many PMs/Directors of Product they have. My current company just hired a VP of Product Management to whom I had to explain the differences between strategic and tactical work.
Hi fishies! I'm looking for chemisty jobs in the Philadelphia area. Synthetic chemistry would be ideal since I've got 3 yrs of lab experience. Anyone know of any companies hiring in the area?
Needs advice. I promoted someone to on my management team. They were given the position due to rapid growth and I saw potential in this person to help me lead the team down the road. Managers & team members voiced concerns I noted all complaints when I started to see the problems myself I brought it to my higher up. We spoke to them a few times. We thought it was smooth sailing until they started trying to make me look bad and unfit for my role. I had no idea until another manager told me.
I've seen a couple posts about unionizing, anyone know anything about the potential Kaiser strike in early October? Saw online that they're already hiring for scabs, $3400-$5950 + housing, travel transportation, and per diem. And this is for techs!!!

What are some job titles I should consider?
I’ve been offered a position that I’m really excited about. Their initial offer was 10K more than the top of the salary range they gave me for the position when I asked during the interview process and at the top end of the salary requirements I set for myself. My partner thinks I should still negotiate for more even though I’m happy with the offer. Am I an idiot if I don’t negotiate in this case? Realistically, I don’t think I’d get much more than that, but should I negotiate out of principle?

It’s a good time as any to use charts these days. Whoever does use it, just a reminder if it’s a range then play it as a range. And if it breaks out of a long term range, change your mind quick and treat that as a breakout (in whatever direction that is!)
Any tips for breaking into the federal government? I’ve submitted so many usajobs applications over the years with no success. Currently pursuing my master’s degree and hoping to land a job at DOS or DOD. For context, I’m based in DC and working full time in energy policy at an R&D institution. I fell into the energy space and want to get out. Educational background in foreign policy (Iraq expertise) / national security. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I was told that after a year I could apply for the next position, I am ready for that. How should I bring this conversation up with my manager?

Additional Posts in Product Management
Ive seen a few posts here where people mentioned going through burnout and then switching jobs. I am experiencing that myself, and currently on leave and working to relax and getting better myself. However, some companies contact me with interesting open roles. My question is, how did you approach the search “after” and what were the factors you valued the highest in the new role search? Id love if anyone could share about those transition experiences too. Thanks!

Being an aspiring PM and an international grad student graduating in December. It's certainly overwhelming applying for full time PM roles, getting interviews and preparing for interviews.
I understand that there's a lot of resources/information on the Internet which is helpful, but it's certainly overwhelming as there's no one strategy that works.
I'm looking to break into tech space as a PM. Would appreciate any tips or suggestions that has really helped you guys?
Here’s the question…
Stay in my current Product Manager role at General Motors (avg salary, not learning/progressing PdM space, good wlb, lots of work but lots of politics, messy process and conflicts with other teams) OR move into a Senior PdM at Mapbox (higher salary, RSUs, unknown culture, unknown wlb, etc.). Mapbox is intriguing because I feel like it will help me grow as a product manager, but I’m a little worried this may be “grass is greener on other side” scenario.
Any advice? i’m interviewing for a lead product role at a small startup - for context I was an associate pm a few years ago, shifted to product marketing, and looking to move back. seems like they need someone to set up a lot of their best practices and refine the roadmap/ vision- any tips on how to prep or questions you’ve heard would be appreciated!

Is it a bad idea to join a startup with no potential for equity? I’ve got two solid offers on the table, both with equity included, but I’m not super passionate about the products themselves - and then one with no equity potential but I AM passionate about the product. Thoughts?

What is my job as a product manager if the Product Owner/ Founder already laid out most of work prior to me getting hired? 🤦♀️ - New PM
It's my first month in a new job as Product Owner. I went from a company that digital product development was their secondary focus along with consultancy services, to a company that their only focus is the product. The difference in scale as well as the different domain, certainly feeds into my imposter syndrome. What are the things I should focus to achieve within my first few months at the new job?
Hi there! I moved to California from Russia a year ago. I’ve finished local Product management boot camp and currently I work as a volunteer (PM) for charity start-up.
I have a successful entrepreneurial experience in Russia and I hired probably hundred of people but I’ve never looked for a job for myself - job always found me.
I feel so anxious about job hunting especially in a new country. Do you have any advice what obstacles can I face and how to overcome them?
Fishbowlers - Given all the recent Meta/Facebook news, would you still consider going through the interview process to join the company? Their recruiters are very good at selling you the company, but as of lately, I’m having second thoughts. Trying to get some perspective.
