I have been approached by 3 separate HR people at a startup company to interview for a position. I already have a fulltime job that pays well and I only started 6 months ago too. Anyways, the pay was intriguing and the job was a high level scientific advisor so I did interviews. At the last interview, at the end I was told the job was for management but I prepared for a different kind of interview. I am waiting for an offer or rejection letter. I feel peeved that they wasted my time. Red flags?
When you were approached by HR, you were told the job role was for a scientific advisor, and then at the last interview, you were told it was a completely different role? That sounds like a red flag to me.
This has happened to me before with a startup. Told me it was for a Director position and kept bumping the title and pay down as time went on.
You dodged a bullet. They need to figure out what they're doing and looking for before subjecting you or anyone else to stressful interviews.
Are you more interested in the pay or job role? You may not get the exact job role, but maybe the pay is worth it...
Red flags all over that process. They wasted your time and lied about the role. Sounds like the startup didn't even know what role they needed before recruiting you.
Wow. Not being clear about the job role and still recruiting people, just to waste their time. The audacity of some of these startup companies.
How did they approach you through LinkedIn, email, or a referral? Nowadays, I pay little attention to recruiters emailing or messaging me through LinkedIn. Like you, I have a great job that pays well, so I don't bother getting back to them for now.
Well everyone has been most helpful on here. I do think its red flags and I am angry they wasted my time. I think ignoring recruiters is good advice. This startup reached out to my work email, personal email and linkedin.
