I have been at my firm for just over a year & have begun thinking abt what I want my career path to look like. Due to the structure of my firm, my practice is very varied. I would like to narrow my practice, but don’t foresee that being possible where I am at. I have begun taking calls w/ firms who have reached out to recruit me. I’m not in a rush to leave, but I don’t want it to come as a shock to my firm when that day comes. What’s the best way to effectuate a lateral move w/out bad blood?

This is a question which I'm curious about people's thoughts. Mostly reflecting on the past since I'm way too far in audit to make a career change. Did I make a mistake by not trying for law school? I took the LSAT when I was a first year associate and got a 168. At this point, the score expired and would need to retake. I know law is riskier than audit. But a part of me wonders if I'd have been better off (except more student loans) if I went to law school instead of sticking with audit?

Everyone in the comments said more productive at home and I'm curious if this bowl would have a different consensus. I'm way more productive in the office, although I don't go that often, so maybe it's the change of scenery that helps.

I saw the thread about savings and many young lawyers (20s and 30s) don’t know how to open up a brokerage account or invest in their 401k. I know they don’t teach personal finance in school (though they should!), but my advice is that you should go to your local library and read a book about the subject. You have the skills necessary but you must invest in yourself. No one will look out for you.
