I don’t have any great advice on how to ask, but make sure you ask/mention/advocate for yourself ahead of your performance review. Once you get there, the time to promote for this cycle has passed.
Agree on this advice. Copywriter 1 I know it’s confusing, but basically the actual reviews are a bit of a show. Numbers and requests are due to holding agencies way before they’re complete.
Ask for it outright and remind your boss what you’ve done to deserve it. Don’t be shy! Best of luck
Have a call with your manager, say that you’d like to be considered for a promotion to VP based on a successful year (and this is personal depending on personality type and relationship) then pose the question, and “if you have any thoughts or feedback on me getting there I’d love to hear”- this is important bc it makes it a discussion about qualifications, not just a yes or no. And if for some reason your manager doesn’t agree, they now should tell you why not- and you can hopefully agree to work on anything in particular you may need to be considered for the next cycle (incase there is something valid) - most likely if you are doing well your manager will agree with you but it’s good to have an open conversation about it that lets them know your intentions and puts you on a path to getting what you want.
