I think you should definitely negotiate more

like

The move seems worth it. Doesn’t hurt to negotiate, they might give you more comp or a higher title, but I’ve seen both happen.
Lastly, why is there so much shame towards JC/non NYC offices? Just say JC.

like

Ask them to put bonus in the offer letter, so that you have it guaranteed for your first year. I think the new comp is too close to your old comp to be honest. And once you get here raises are minuscule and waiting 3 years is the standard before promotion. Some people get it before 3 yrs though.

So, ask for bonus + higher base or a VP if you think they will entertain. If you didn’t apply or interview as a VP, it might be a big stretch. We are already slowing down on hiring and there is already a rumor of tech being cut 10%.

like

Not sure how you can ensure that. My guess is the best is to ask a guaranteed employment of 12 months or a compensation worth that much if you position is to be eliminated before the agreed term. I have never done it but only heard about it for C-Suite type of position. What if you don’t like your new role, would you then be stuck for 12 months?

If you were interviewing for a VP role and they offered a Sr Associate role, you might want to thread lightly if you still do want this job. If you think you deserve the best, go for it though!

Location NYC/JC

Hi fellow fishies!

I hope all is well.

I'm nearing a 1.5 years at my current company. FYI I'm in a graduate program, so i've switched roles within departments (from Backend Dev in a Product team to Software Data Engineer in a Cybersecurity/Cyberdefence team)

In this new role, I've been given full autonomy on the development of a (in-house) product, from scratch. I've made some progress and some of the folks upstairs seem happy.

How do I translate that in terms of salary negotiations?

TIA!

Hello Fellow fishes, Need your valuable suggestions. I cleared CA in first attempt and offered pure finance role. Now ended up working in SAP support project. I resigned to find out opportunities outside in my field. My LWD is nearing and now I got a call from senior manager that I will be moved to Corporate finance roles asap. Can you help me decide if there is any proper Finance roles in TCS or this is just a trap. Also can you suggest if it's actually worth for CA to try inside TCS Tata

Working as a Senior Accountant at Vanguard with my CPA; 3 YOE, Greater Philadelphia area. Took this job to give accounting one more try and while I don’t regret it I’m bored. Anything in finance more challenging/less box-checking? People have recommended public but I’m not interested in audit/tax or travel.

I’m starting therapy again next week (I did it for a few months in 2020 due to some postpartum depression) and I’m weirdly very excited to dive back in under “normal circumstances”. Mainly focusing on handling day to day work stress and not letting it weigh me down in other areas. Would love some tips on how to personally prepare for those first couple of sessions. Thanks, friends.

Needing help on deciphering my true salary for the time being. I graduated at 17 with an associate’s in Cyber Defense. The company I am with has me listed as a field service specialist(6 month intern, 4month full time), however, I’ve picked up on different roles like project manager, systems admin, project engineer etc. I’ve been getting good experience but at what point do I need to discuss salary or move on? I’m currently making 45k which I feel like is low after gaining some insight .

How can I cross check my current pay is industrial standard or not? Any recommended website?
