I have been with my company for almost 8 years. I wasn’t certified when I started but I have been now for about a year. It wasn’t required before. I learned that my coworker who has been with us less than a year and had no prior experience in healthcare makes very close to the same amount I do. My boss says our rates are based on our experience which is clearly not true. One of our none clinical members who left was making the same as me. Does this seem right to you guys?

Agreed. Start applying out and see what you get offered. You can use that as leverage to stay or go somewhere else. You should definitely be paid more.

unfortunately you have to leave the company to jump to a different pay rate. I jump 6$ up just by moving to a similar company. Unfortunately even if your manager believes in you there’s certain limitations they can do when it comes to giving raises. The only way is to leave and go somewhere that will offer you more and hopefully a better work environment. Also look within the company for possible different department positions that’s aligned with your resume.

I found that people who I was precepting as new hires were making significantly more than I-after I gave my soul to this employer. I asked for their entry level in addition to the raises I earned. I received it very quickly. But I never trusted the company again.

like

Unfortunately, it is very common that new hires get higher salaries than current employees. This is because the market rate for employees grows faster than the average raise of 3%. I suggest you find a different job that will pay you more.

When I left my old job I got a new position w $9 raise. I never looked back. It was the best decision ever. Not not because of money raise but everything else that came w it. Take a deep breath and jump in the unknown waters. There is a whole new world out there.

like

This is a sad reality. It really happens and new hires tend to get higher salaries than tenured ones. Leave and negotiate for a higher salary on your next one.

Seems like a cop out from your boss. It's a shame that this happens a lot in our field. Newer employees kind of just get the same benefits as those who have been there longer and have tenure. Sad

They could have at least considered your extended stay there and experience as a clear basis for a raise. Sad that this happens. Hope something good happens for you

This happened a lot with my new hires due to current salary market at my last job. I had several employees leave for this reason, and administration started to give people raises for market adjustment after staffing became a crisis. They would also try and match other competing job offers if presented. Some people stayed, some did not.

This happens a lot, unfortunately. I would totally consider leaving this company and go where I am more supported and valued and paid as much as I deserve.
