I have enough points to cover one way for an international flight. Any downside to booking two one way segments, pay departure with points, and cash for return?

One way cash tends to be more expensive than round trip when it comes to international flights

like

I've done this before but only after checking that the one way is truly half the cost of the round trip. Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't. If it is half the cost (or less) only other consideration is trip cancellation due to weather or extraordinary circumstances. Since you're on multiple tickets, if the first is cancelled, they won't reimburse for the return. I don't let that stop me but just as a caution.

like

Definitely run the awards search both ways to see which will give you a better deal vs cash! You could also nest two round trips if cheaper (i.e., going to TPE but you buy LAX-HND-LAX on one itinerary and HND-TPE-HND on the other).

My wife got a job that requires us to relocate to San Diego. We have never lived there and know little about the city. We are planning to rent. We stayed in a hotel in little Italy and really loved the vibe there, but it’s too expensive for us. Are there other neighborhoods with similar vibes - restaurants, bars, lively, good for walking, clean, safe, young, diverse and accessible that are more affordable? Please share recommendations. How much should we reasonably budget to rent a 2bd/2bath?

Boss has WFH for 9months. I have been WFH for 2-weeks for travel quarantine/state guidelines. She now requires that I go back to the office to “show face” that HR is right alongside the essential employees. I have been more productive from home vs the office. I get the perspective of team unity, but is it wrong to feel there is no reason to risk my health? The company justifies increasing my covid risk (high-risk already) to “show face”, when my job is being fulfilled while WFH. Am I crazy?

Hi all, I got laid off from my current company (product based) a month ago. Since then I've been looking for new opportunities. I got an offer from a good product based company with a good package and also my current company offering me rehire with promotion and a good package. I have a good rapport with my current manager, and he played a major role in offering this rehire opportunity. I'm confused about making the right decision here. Kindly share your views. Both offers are pretty much same.
