I have had no real avenue to spend money like I used to with covid over the last year so looking for short-term (non crypto) investment opportunities with high returns ~$150k, any free advice would be appreciated 😄

You said high returns. I suppose you are going to try and tell me powerball is not a good bet either.

Have you considered real estate? It may not have high returns in the period you want unless you put some serious work in, but I think buying a $400k house (25% down) that needs $30k to $50k of work could yield you a pretty nice nest egg that could potentially yield a nice return in 3 to 5 years while cashflowing in the interim.

I’m a new associate to a T&E group, partner goes away on vacation and leaves me with a 706 to review and sign. The family is very wealthy. Decedent married for 60 years. Partner says it’s “just a DSUE election, decedent was ill for years, no assets.” Provides no records. Not even an admission the decedent owned a toothbrush. So I looked up the decedent’s home - it’s a joint asset. Partner was “surprised”, and still insists “no other assets”. I found file references to art and antiques.

Had a therapist who encouraged me to quit my job to be happy. Also encouraged me to not settle with my girlfriend because I’ll regret it (like how he regrets getting married). Ended up quitting my job and became more miserable, poor and suicidal. Haven’t seen my girlfriend due to long distance and COVID and we might break up soon. Did I just find a bad therapist or is it normal to project your own regrets to your patients?

Curious what others risk tolerance / budget is for primary housing expense. Currently looking at houses and what I ‘can’ afford according to the math feels like way more house than I ‘should’ buy. For reference I’m a B4 7th yr partner. Last year total comp was around $1.8 and total other monthly fixed expenses are in the $20k/mo neighborhood. Just wondering how others approach this. Thanks.

Partners, please looking for some advice. I work for a boutique firm and worked really hard the past year with a lot more responsibilities and an under staffed team (hiring freeze because of covid). My bonus number was good, but not great (I didn’t get my max bonus). The reason from my boss was that while my performance was well recognized, because of covid there was a broad bonus haircut. However, my direct reports did not get any bonus. It has really tainted my view on the firm because...cont.

Per what I'm reading the interest rate is 9.62% if I buy through Oct 2022. It's a 30 year investment, but I can withdraw after 5 years without 3 month penalty.

Questions:
(1) Is the interest rate fixed or variable over the term of the bond?
(2) Assuming 9.62% is annual return but definitely want to confirm 🤣
(3) Do most people actually keep it in 30 years? I'm looking at 5 years for now and re-assess
