I have interviews lined up in the next few weeks for my first PM role & I’m struggling most with the case study questions (how would you improve x / design an x for y) - does anyone have any good resources with lots of example questions and answers? (I’ve read Cracking the PM interview & Decode but now need more worked examples to practice with) thanks!
I’d encourage you to think about the product. If you don’t have ideas about how you can already improve the product maybe it’s not the right fit for you.
I understand where you’re coming from. They are giving you this exercise to see how your brain works. If I was you, I’d try my best to not over think it (easier said than done) and come up with what YOU think is best and an improvement to the product. This is the problem statement, this is the audience, and this is a solution. Remember that product is ever evolving. there is not a right answer but there is a first step. And a next step and then MEASURE.
Pay for something like Exponent or https://www.productmanagementexercises.com/interview-questions. Tons of detailed answers and comments/feedback. Also I would suggest paying for coaching/mock interviews. You can also find free peer mock interviews out there, primarily through PM communities on Slack and FB groups.
OOO this is super helpful thank you!
Do you not already have an idea of how to approach these problems/challenges from reading the books or experience?
Thanks!
Following! I am interested in getting into PM but the interviews have been scaring me because I am not used to case studies.
