I have my P&C license, work at an insurance agency in houston and I make 60k a year. I’ve been in insurance 12 yrs. Is that a decent salary?, I’ve never really looked around at other agencies.

The problem is you haven’t looked for a new job in 12 years. You are underpaid especially for Houston. You get the biggest increase when you move companies. At this point experience and licenses trump having a college a degree so start contacting recruiters and put yourself out there. You could be making $100k+ at this point in your career with the right company.

Account manager? Agent? What do you do? Personal/commercial/both?

Oh if you’re doing commercial too then yes you could be getting easily $20-$30K more but you will likely be doing only commercial…. I heard personal auto is the most profitable insurance to sell however depending on commissions.

Bi adjuster, been in insurance almost 9yrs. 76k. Depending on your position, I would say you are under paid based on yoe.

There's a serious lack of talent in claims across many regions. Especially the West Coast if you're not in the region. Across all personal and commercial lines. You could probably have any company take a chance on you in Property Claims if you are willing to move to be a staff field adjuster.

Yeah our starting salary for entry level P/C Surety agent is $50,000 +. You are most def underpaid.

Milbank matched DPW scale. Plus/minus 50% for associates with above 110% or below 80% “utilization” through 9/6 (including pro bono and legal work for firm). To be paid by Oct 30. December bonus expected to be no less than last year. Good for management and consistent with (imho) strong leadership during COVID.

Should I jump to another firm?

Current firm at SC level - 105k base, typically 10% bonus. Great WLB at the moment as I'm staffed on a very lax project that will run through 2022. Enjoy working with my team, no complaints.

Another firm I'm entertaining for an SC role - 5k sign on, 130k base. They're ramping up their practice so are looking for people with my specific skillset. Have heard good things about their culture but I take word of mouth with a grain of salt.

Salary bump worth the jump?

After this company i will never work in Banking or insurance project.
If you want peace in these projects, you need to stay very long to understand the functionality.

I've done so well in this new role within the company that they are hiring another person to assist with what I do. I've voiced to my boss that I'd like to manage this department and they indicated that this is the thought for the future. Now they are asking me to train this person while I have my plate full. Is it wrong for me to expect either a promotion or to be paid to train this person?

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!
