I use to be one of those “if you aren’t making time for the gym you don’t want it enough” folks. But now that I’m working more than before, taking care of aging family etc I realise it’s just hard as an adult to do everything you want

I'm a tiny human and I dropped about 10 lbs after everything closed down. Eventually decided I wanted to get back into shape, basically treated it like when I first started lifting, with my old beginner program, and went through the same adjustments I did last time around. The gains came much easier this time around, and I actually beat my last plateau. It gets better!

I lift 2-3x a week. Built a home gym. Each workout takes about 1.5 hours. I’ll sneak in there on “listen mode” calls and late at night usually.

I just started getting back into it. I make time on my calendar to do lunch and gym. So I'll do a good 40 hour workout, eat, then get back to work. Are stairs not supposed to wind me? 👀

yeah same, or I’ll do a quick 20 hour HIIT workout if I’m crunched on time 😉

I had just gotten into a habit of regularly going to the gym and pilates classes before the shut down. Now I’m “active” if I did one home workout a week 😔

Same position here, I just re-started this week and can see and feel noticeable difference. I think identifying what is preventing you from working out is key. For me I do not feel comfortable going to a gym and then a question is also Equipment/Space/Time/Etc. For me I didn’t have equipment and after a year waiting I landed on 90 lbs PowerBlocks so I’m retooled and motivated. If the issue is just not knowing where to start, the answer is to just start, fall in love with it again, establish a baseline and hop on a free program like candito or something. Your Numbers will come back quicker than the initial grind.

I am a competitive strength athlete and have had a few times when I stopped training for a period of time for one reason or another (usually due to a lot of stress at work and also having a family). Once you get back into it the gains come quickly, your recovery is usually not great for the first few sessions so try to throttle it back a little but you can get back to peak condition within a couple of months. Try getting some new headphones, gym gear, pre-workout, starting a new program, or going to a new gym. Something to give you a little more excitement.

Pre-covid stopped going to the gym bc I never had time with family and a toddler. But since quarantine I’ve luckily been able to pick it back up and am in best shape ever. Better than high school and college Beachbody membership has been game changing for me since they actually have hard workouts and tons of variety. Between P90x (1-3) and the insanity videos I get an incredible workout in our tiny apartment. They have options whether you have 30 to 90 minutes. Most of my workouts can be done in a 4’x8’ space. Main equipment for me is selecttech dumbbells and a pull-up bar I swear I’m not a brand ambassador or coach or anything, I just found this and it worked really well for me. Best of luck finding yours!

I really like Zuzka workouts and her program esp if female. Lots of different moves and a set schedule.

I got that OG Jack3d. Send me a DM if you want

Weird... you work out to gain weight. I gained 20lbs because covid closed my gym.

Has anyone here had a breakthrough Covid case who also received the Moderna vaccine? Anecdotally - went to a small wedding last weekend and a TON of the guests are testing positive for Covid now. Everyone at my table has symptoms or a positive test at this point - except me. I had a negative test and got moderna. They all received Pfizer. Other guests at different tables are seeing the same thing, including married couples with different vaccinations.

Just need to vent: my friend refuses to bring up the topic of covid and how it will likely effect her wedding. She’s just moving forward like we aren’t in a pandemic and it’s becoming exhausting trying to be supportive and excited for her when it feels like she’s living in a fantasy world. She just had us purchase bridesmaids dresses and I can’t help but feel like it was a complete waste of a few hundred dollars. I feel bad for having these thoughts but I’m over it.

Currently working at Accenture as a C (promoted Dec ‘19), but I know I ultimately want to make the jump over to Deloitte. I am on track to be promoted to M in the 2021 promo cycle and I know Deloitte would likely knock me down one level either way. Due to COVID-19, it seems like it doesn’t make sense to jump ship for at least another year while things get back to normal. Any thoughts on if it’s better to wait it out and leave after making M (but how long after?) or try to leave earlier? TIA

Should we move to a cheaper city like Phoenix so we have a big house for cheap and 2 home offices. Am I missing anything?

HELP! Roommate is being insistent on not allowing either of us to go out due to covid (except for groceries). We live in Chicago, and phase 4 is starting in a few wks meaning most places will re-open with limited capacity. I’m not trying to go crazy here and hit up every club/restaurant/public place. But I’d like to enjoy a meal out or a small gathering at a friend’s place, things like that (w/ all proper precautions in place) but roommate is not cool with it -how to approach?
