Since we all know guns aren’t the problem, but mental illness is the problem, can we have a thoughtful discussion on why living in a blue/liberal/woke state is good for your mental health and living in a red/conservative/maga state is so much worse for your mental health?

Hi Everyone,
I have received an email for selection as Data Scientist at Roche
However the mail has no detailed information on salary component and various other details like date of joining etc. What should be my next step.
Lastly, how is the company? What are the benefits working there? Is the work pressure too much?
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

It’s not Obamacare. Please don’t call it that.
Amen. Obamacare isn’t an insurance carrier, I have no idea why people think that.
I wouldn’t be afraid to do it. If you lose the company coverage that’s a “qualifying event," allowing you to re-enroll in your old plan.
Obama care is worthless shit. You have to meet insane deductibles and pay for crap you don’t need. Compare it that way. You can COBRA the cheaper insurance for 18 months if job ends. Even if you’re freelance
You have to pay all the cost for cobra which means it’s much more than what you pay when employed. Cobra is just the right to keep the plan, not that your employer will pay for their half. They CAN but you have to ask that ahead of time.
If you lost your job and are eligible for unemployment as your only income, as an alternative to COBRA you can sign up for Medicaid (it’s called a Community Plan) via the unemployment office. I believe it lasts 1 year. After that you can get freelance and your cover is still valid for a year. THEN you’re on your own. So you have to decide if you want to pay Cobra for 12-18 months (you might depending on your medical situation) or the free Medicaid. But you only get one chance to sign up for Cobra and can’t switch back and forth
You generally can’t get an Obamacare plan outside of the open enrollment period. Job loss is a possible exception, though it’s hard to know if your situation qualifies. Do the research before making the switch, it’s probably dependent on your state and the plan you choose.
Also, it doesn’t sound like you’re really going to save much, so why even bother with the hassle?
You can not opt out and use that as a qualifying life event. Losing coverage involuntarily is a qualifying event but opting out is not.
