Hello! Is anyone working at Spotify or HubSpot within product/project management that would be willing to connect for a virtual coffee chat?
I’m a recent grad and currently working in tech/product development. I have been interested in growing my career at either of these companies and would be grateful to gain insight on day-to-day and steps you took to successfully break in.
I know this might be a big ask here, but it’s been difficult trying to land one on LinkedIn. Thanks in advance
Any in-house counsel in here willing to post their company, level or YOE, and total comp breakdown? If you’re comfortable, please consider posting both your current stats and what your stats were when you first moved in-house. If there’s any other information that you want to share, please include that too (e.g., hours, interesting perks, etc.). Info on in-house salaries is pretty hard to come by, and it would be great to compile some data points here! Facebook Amazon Google Netflix Apple

imo, if the onsite looks certain, get that experience. In india you dont get to go abroad so easily unless you spend good many yrs with the firm. However you can still change to product companies at later stage as well.
Just a suggestion as i once left onsite opportunity for a prod. Company and found it difficult to get an onsite later on.
In some scenarios, people get onsite opportunity within few months of joining organization. My canada visa was initiated within 6 months of joining organization, it totally depends on your luck. I would still suggest you to think twice before falling into onsite trap
I also had got this offer for Onsite (Canada) as a retention offer. I didn't wish to take it as they are promising this to everyone! Well! 😏
Currently I am 9 year experience and I've hired people remotely in EU zone at 100k for normal skillset roles. If your company is charging less then it may be because your sales team is not being able to find high impact clients. For most of service industry in India its very very common to charge the amount I had mentioned. I myself have seen the charging sheets of TCS in 2014 and it was 4k+ usd per resource for fresher and as my old manager told me they are charging 180-220 for 5+ years of exp by giving peanuts to employees these days. If I was bluffing, I wouldn't have scored 160+k offer for myself!!

Product based company is good. Canada immigration takes wayyyyyyyyy too much time that's why I left an offer in canada and decided to go elsewhere. And as per company's record I can certainly say what's going to happen - they will start the process internally and initiate your handover. By 3ed month when you have done handover theh will simply say management has changed recently and is not approving it. If you really want to go to canada then ask your manager to initiate it and tell him that you will take your papers back on 5th day from notice end and not any before that which will be based on visa application progress. That way it will be ensured that your visa application will be submitted to embassy at least. If they are trying to get you to take your papers back before that then its a clear indication that they don't want you to grow and progress in career.
Nice negotiation strategy!
Product company. If it is good. You have the option of moving to better product companies from there. CTS is a service company. So unless you dream of being abroad soon, my take would be product company. You have only 5+ years of experience. There is a long career ahead. All the best
Yes, that is what I think as of now. Join prod company now and later if I desperately need onsite opportunity will move on to another company which can give me one.
It totally depends on what you need.
If I were you, I might have chosen Prod base company. On-site seems very interesting in terms of making money but do your maths, it’s not huge. It used to be good in early days but now it’s not that much different. Even if you plan to come India once every year and plan to bring your family onsite every year, your saving will mostly be exhausted. Again I am not sure how much you will be getting after moving to Canada from cognizant but it’s not huge. I have been to US and utilized my H1B , company and client offered to go to Canada. I do have 13 L package in india and after doing all maths with 2 dependent, I was hardly saving 5L. Also believe me in my project for 3 people , CTS is doing their Canadian visa since starting of this year but nothing moved. Their application haven’t even made till embassy.
Again just do you maths if you are looking for savings while going Onsite or else check with career path which company is better for you

+ you gotta check the taxes + social security contributions. Its skyrocketing almost everywhere except india, dubai, romania and very few low tax counties. Last time I heard, taxes were 40% in canada. So keep in mind that you will be making only 60% of that amount + there will be a lot expenses as an immigrant. So choose wisely.
You have only started your career. There is more to go. It it was me I would have accepted the offer from that product company.
Staight forward answer! Strongly registered in my mind for decision making. Thank you so much!
A bird in hand is worth more than 2 in the bush
Working with product companies you would rather get more exposure, growth and money as well. Also it depends how you see onsite, many folks are coming back to India with product companies offering great pay with the luxury of being in India. I call it luxury cause, working abroad may seem great but it comes at a cost. the comforts of being in India are not negligible.
Pro
You will get plenty of opportunities later... Dont lose the opportunity in hand.
So you are suggesting me to go with product based company offer and later try for onsite opportunities? But in product company we won't get much onsite opportunities right?
Your skill nd yoe ???
Try for onsite salary will increase whenever you wish
If money matters weigh the difference the amount you save in Canada vs the new offer. Sometime you can save a lot in India vs on-site. Sometimes on-site opportunities are simply a fancy terms used to retain employees.
If you have long term goal staying in aboard especially in the US, Canada will open up a shortcut route to it. Best way is to write down all the + and - in a paper considering factors like pay, wlb, long term benefits, family attachments, weather condition, travel etc. and then decide.
Would suggest you to switch company. You can switch again and save equivalent salary in India. Going on-site is very lengthy process and you need luck as well which is not in your hand. Just go with offer you have in hand.
If this PRODUCT company is walmart, stay away!!
In Walmart wlb is too bad , dirty politics and you are right it's kind of a bloodsucker. People run after the brand name.
If you are really wanting to have an onsite opportunity do ask for a revision in salary incase the onsite opportunity falls apart.
Reason being this whole thing is possible if visa is processed.
So just incase that doesn't happen you would still have a comfortable compensation and won't feel back of giving up the current new offer.
Go for 23 lakh. Don't trust on management promise.
What u have in hand is what u earned.. If u have 23 lks offer in hand go for it .. What assurance u have that they ll send u...
If you're sure they will give you on-site then stay or else you can put your separation. once you go onsite you can try over there for switching after certain period of time!!
Never chase something which is uncertain. I was once in a simillar situation where I had visa in hand and then I was denied of the opportunity because of COVID. Ultimately, switched job after a year. After a hard way I learnt that "Whatever is yours will eventually come to you and whatever isn't yours will never come to you".
I hope you make a good decision.
Can you help with British telecom review if you have joined
Onsite always better, if you have some trust with the management, then stay ON. Moving to product based or service based doesn't change much, other than work pressure and what kind of project you would land on for learning. If you stay back, they will be pressured to process this sooner and you will always have a choice to find another one.
23 fixed?
