I am in the customer service and sales side of travel insurance, and I am looking for a new job, possibly in another field. A much larger company purchased us 2 years ago, and over the last 6 months I have lost 2 designations, one as an advocate, which was my most rewarding. I was told that it had nothing to do with my performance. Any suggestions on how to obtain a position in another area? Such as going from strictly customer service and sales to advocate and claims? Thanks
Hyatt is better for both aside from a much smaller footprint for both accumulation and redemption
it seems like everyone here only gets staffed to customers in major cities to be asking this question so frequently. hyatt has the best rewards program but the fewest properties. there aren’t any hyatt hotels in bumfuck illinois. but there might be a fairfield, courtyard, spring hill, or residence inn. unless you always and only travel to major cities and are fine knowing your redemptions and earning will largely be limited to them, go with marriott. if you only travel to major cities and can always stay at a hyatt, and you know this will be the case for your travel career, go hyatt.
^ This precisely why I have lifetime Marriott Titanium (formerly Platinum) status and none on Hyatt, even though I do stay at Hyatts occasionally.
Agree with M1. One advantage to Marriott (and Hilton) is their large number of smaller properties in suburbs and towns along interstates can be quite useful on road trips. Hyatt definitely has a better program, but if your personal travel doesn’t align to their property footprint, Marriott may be more useful.
IHG
I feel that splitting between the two has been hurting me from a status standpoint.
Hyatt is expanding their foot print and in general has better redemption and overall experience
Hyatt
Hyatt doesn’t have platinum anymore. And the platinum that was, was a low tier. Hyatt has better earn and redeem except for footprint, but you should check that you’re actually globalist to make that true
Yup. Thanks for clarification. I meant Globalist
Have you all actually looked at the numbers (points x $ spent, points x $ redeemed) at the top level in both? I recall Marriott still leading on those two
TPG values Bonvoy points at 0.9 cents and Hyatt at 1.7 cents
Not a good measure. You earn Bonvoy 2x faster and it costs 2x to use. That’s what happens when you have a program that gives 5 vs 10 pts/$1
