If you've already flown and credited to KrisFlyer, no. If you haven't flown for have booked them and set it to KrisFlyer, yes. You should be able to change that online through the OTA, but you can always do it at the counter when you check in or go to the gate. If you flew but didn't credit to KrisFlyer and you had a UA MileagePlus account before flying, you can request missing miles on UA.com.
Why would you leave SQ? Seems like such a downgrade!
SQ highest tier is Krisflyer Gold and I'm stuck there, even thought on United tier standard, I'm technically a Platinum. I try not to wait in Boarding group 2 with the other half of the plane. I hate that they merged Gold & Silver status into Group 2. I always had to fight for over bin space.
Even if there were another level of the KrisFlyer program that had higher status on SQ than KrisFlyer Gold, it would still only be eligible for Star Alliance Gold benefits when flying on UA (i.e., Group 2 boarding). Keep in mind that you'll lose lounge access on domestic flights in the US once you only have Star Alliance Gold from UA. Just another factor to consider...
