I have started interviewing for new roles and noticed that mid - sized companies don’t have any standards for interviews . They have their own version of what a DE should do and come having this old background of data warehousing and if someone hasn’t built one or read from multiple sources then they are not a DE .

DEs also build data pipelines and features and platforms that directly feed data into the model.They don’t always build a data warehouse .

I started a new job about 6 months ago and when I was interviewing I was told the role is fully remote, other than occasional team meetings and client travel. We just got an email that we’re expected to come into the office twice a week on weeks we’re not traveling for client work. Are other firms doing this? I have a pretty long commute into the office and honestly probably wouldn’t have picked this office if they had said this back when I was interviewing.

Is there a way to tell a partner you have 0 interest in doing another type of work, even if related? I recently lateraled as a cap markets associate in a am200 firm and I want to focus on securities only, and not do M&A. In the interview I did mention wanting to do more M&A but also said I mainly do/focus on securities. So how can I tell them now I absolutely hate M&A and want nothing to do with it again? Lol TIA.

I just bombed my first case interview. The interviewer said I seemed lost, and he wasn't wrong. Nerves definitely got the best of me. I have the second part of the interview (another case with a different interviewer) coming up next week. I guess I'm wondering if I blew the whole thing? Was interviewing for an IBM PM(offering manager) - GTM offer for the Boston area and after three rounds of positive interviews, the recruiter told me they are now evaluating the position.

Informed me that if they move forward with the role, I’ll get the job so want to know if IBM is hiring or is there a freeze.

Feels weird that they started to evaluate the position after all the rounds.

Maybe not the right bowl, not sure where to post. How do you find balance or cope with knowing you make a good money, but also feeling underpaid? Background- I make more than I ever have, more than all of my siblings, more than my parents combined. I make low 100k, something I’ve never thought I’d make. But, during recent review talks, I found out I was on the low end of the pay scale and feel as though I deserve to be at a bare minimum in the mid range, which would be about 20% more.
